What phone did you replace your N7 with?

Back to using my Note5. Much better than the note7 anyways. I make use of the stylus a lot so I'm definitely a note user and would like to see it grow. It was very disappointing with the note7, it certainly wasn't something I had expected given that I have been using note devices since the very first generation note. Never seen an issue of this magnitude before heh. Better be safe than sorry ey.

Yup. I've been keeping my eye out for a cheap Note 3 deal. There was an inexpensive G3 deal on ebay the other day, for under 100, so waiting until something pops up like that for the Note 3. I lasted 2 3/4 years on the Note 3 via Sprint.
I have had the Note 3 for a few years now (since it first came out). It is a little slower (memory almost full), but it has not failed me yet. I PATIENTLY waited for the NEXT BEST thing from Samsung, having bypassed the Note 4 & 5. The SGN7 was it for me...and now this:( I can only hope that the Note 7's successor (what ever it is going to be called) will live up to the expectations that we all have.....a descent phone that is light years ahead of the ones that we bypassed the previous models for.

Yup. I likely would still have been on the Note 3, prior to the Note7 release, if I stuck with Sprint. The only reason I had to sell it was because of my switch to T-Mobile. Much like you, I skipped the 4 and 5. I didn't like the fact that the 4 got physically bigger overall, but screen remained the same size. And the 5 didn't have a microSD slot. The Note7 was definitely what I had wanted the 5 to be (even if they had gone with a non-waterproof Note7, I'd have been happy).

I think the successor on the Note line will all come down to Samsung's overall business decision. Biggest question right now is, do they kill off the branding for the line and rename it, so that it doesn't carry on the negative stigma. In addition to that, many people forget that there's already a Note 8. That is the 8 inch tablet (still one of the most underrated tablets that has been released), which also had phone capabilities (for the international version) and was released after the Note 2. To a certain extent, Samsung may have already been looking into getting rid of the "Note" branding, in favor of adding the "with S-Pen" tagline. They'd likely have run into the numbering dilemma, based on how popular the Note line became over the years (especially since the mobile industry, in general, was moving towards larger screen devices). If you look at tablets, the last "Note" tablet was the Note 12.2 Pro. All the tablets after that, which included the S-Pen, didn't get the "Note" branding.

If I were to put money on it, I'd say that their phone line will be re-branded to something like, "Galaxy N with S-Pen" or something to that extent. I really wouldn't care what they called it, as long as there was a S-Pen and they make a safe phone that exceeds what they were able to accomplish on the Note7, as far as physical form factor (screen to body ratio) combined with features. With the rumors of the Galaxy S line potentially changing to a form factor that doesn't have the home button, I'd love it if they could keep the screen to body ratio on the next "Note" phone, but increase the actual screen size by making a completely bezel-free phone!

Note 3 can already be found all over eBay and swappa for pretty cheap Man. I suggest you take a good look around and get one. It's very reasonably priced today.

I'm sure it could. Haven't really needed to actively look, cuz I have the Mate 8, Lumia 950 XL, and just took delivery of the Xperia Z5 Premium at my house. Note 3 for under $100 bux, similar to the ebay deal I saw for the G3 under $100, would be one I'd probably swoop up, just to have a Note 3 as a secondary backup.

Good deal. You sure have a couple of good devices to go with it as well so it would certainly be a nice addition.

After just reading an article about the Kirin 960 processor, I am likely picking up a Mate 9. Only decision remaining would be if I pick up the regular, dual edge, or both versions. Of course, that's assuming all T-Mobile bands are built in as well. One thing I've noticed with the Mate 8 is, sometimes calls have gotten a little fuzzy, when I'm using the actual handset. Overall, my experience with Huawei has been amazing, so I'm in no rush for Samsung to bring out another Note follow-up. The Mate 8 is actually the only reason I didn't miss the Note 3 too much, but the S-Pen will always be something that I'll miss. I've got a Note 10.1 2k14 also and a Surface Pro 3, so I'm not lacking a pen on devices, but was so convenient to have it on my phone.

All I know is, they better damn well offer some sort of program for those that didn't exchange for a s7 or s7 edge or whatever other Samsung phone! I would certainly hope they don't ignore us folks that purchased initially, but didn't go with a replacement. If they don't think about that, I am gonna be pissed and for sure will stay away in the future, as much as I would miss the note series.

We upgraded my wife from a note 2 to the note 7. She was thinking of switching back, but unfortunately her note 2 isn't reliable anymore. It crashes, freezes up, restarts randomly. Now the battery only charges to 48-50%. we replaced the battery last year . We would do a factory reset but Last time we did one with it, it didn't reboot for a while, in fact I think they had hook it up at her job to figure out what was wrong. She's now looking at alternative phone for the time being

Back to my Moto X PE but I have a similar story to bornintheuk. Since my N7 was paid for already I was told by Verizon to go to the local store where I purchased it to have it processed as a return instead of a recall. But the store wouldn't touch it! So I called Verizon back and was told that they would send me a box and credit my Verizon account for the phone. Like I want a $900 credit on my account. Whatever happened to refunds being in the same form as payments?

Or........re·fund1
verb
rəˈfənd,ˈrēˌfənd/
1.
pay back (money), typically to a customer who is not satisfied with goods or services bought.

Can anybody provide a good reason why I shouldn't buy a new Note 4 on Ebay for around $250 and wait for the next Note?

I'm trying out a Pixel XL for two weeks and I think I like it as it is pretty fast and the Google storage takes the place of a Micro SD slot, I guess, but I wish it had a stylus and that I din't have to put a case on it.

reasons why I liked my old Note 4 although not quite as much as my Note 7. I still have my Note 7 but if you can't take in on an airplane it's not much use.

The Note 4 has
1. a replaceable battery so you don't even need to take your charger on a short trip.
2. a stylus
3. a Micro SD slot
4. a leatherette back so you don't need a case
5. squared off edges so it is very easy to hang on to...iPhone 6 and 7 and Note 5 and 7 and s7 edge are really easy to drop and I hate cases, especially on the bigger phones.

I will say only one thing. The price is too high...
Note 4 can be bought at about $150-200 tops including shipping on ebay and swappa. Of course it also depends on which variant you are planning to get. I would personally go with a unlocked tmobile version or verizon version which comes unlcoked and can be used worldwide. Note4 is good. I myself have the note5 and GS7 which im very proud of. However, the note5 is my favorite of all. It's a true beauty and don't get me wrong...I did love my note4 as well... all the note devices have treated me very well so far. I did not really get the note7 so I don't know much about it because I wasn't able to use for long at all. Never got to have it saddly. But note1-5 have served me very well. No complaints here. Get the note 4 but not at $250
