What phone did you replace your N7 with?

I was going to buy the S7 today and spent hours on the phone with various Verizon reps before they finally informed me that the $100 promo code was not for the S7 even though it was included on the promo page and that I wouldn't be eligible anyway because Samsung was giving me a $100 account credit. I don't see what Samsung's credit has to do with Verizon's promotions but I less than politely declined to purchase.

Not sure about verizon. I have the Unlocked version and I never got any promo. Not even from my carrier that's why I just went for an unlocked version.

After my Samsung full-refund credit came through last week. I went out and bought an Oppo R9 Plus, so that's what's basically replaced my Note 7.

Mike, you're in China! I almost was hoping that you would've gone for the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 or the Mi Mix, just to be able to see those both.

T-Mobile gave me the proper amount when the Note 4 was traded in per the Jump program, and I exchanged the Note 7 for an S7 edge and am currently getting the Samsung Note 7 discount on my next bill.

You have had it now a week, how do you like it?

I just looked to see what that phone can cover, and it looks like it is ready for the world, and Verizon also... gasp!

I like it, and seemed like an easy and appropriate upgrade from my R7 Plus, basically it's faster, more RAM, more internal storage, and a better camera. It doesn't bring any new features though. It needs all those bands and modes just for complete compatibility with the three Chinese carriers. China Telecom is a CDMA/EVDO network, and TD-SCDMA is a 3G mode that's only used by China Mobile.

It could be ready for the world, but AFAIK it's only officially available in China so far, and has been out since March.

BTW the R7 Plus, and I'm going to put CyanogenMod CM13 on that when I've got some spare time.

I've not seen either for real yet. Don't know what to make of the Mi Mix, like it's got no bezels at all, except at the bottom. Was wondering how one would handle that, grip it at sides only?

Going to another Oppo, does make transferring all my apps, games, data, and everything very easy, with the Oppo backup and restore.

Well overall physical dimensions of the mi mix are so close to the mate 8,Nexus 6p,and iPhone 6 or 7 plus. And if you think about it realistically, I don't know anybody that holds the phone on the top bezel. If that thing has a micro sd, it would be my perfect device (also assuming all t-mobile us bands were available as well).

The only time I enter really hold the top or bottom bezel of any phone, is when I am taking it out of my pocket or putting it into my pocket, while the phone is on standby (screen off) where the touches won't affect it.

overall, I think Xiaomi has it right, as far as forward thinking. Ever since Google moved to on screen navigation buttons, I've thought that an oem has to figure out how to accomplish a completely bezeless screen.

Thinking about this a bit myself, if the Mi Mix has no top bezel, I would be interested to know where's the selfie camera, receiver, and proximity sensor that turns the screen off when holding it to one's ear.

The R7 Plus has on screen navigation navigation buttons, but the R9 Plus has gone to a physical home button with fingerprint reader, and capacitive menu and back buttons in the bottom bezel. Which does give slightly more screen real estate to the apps, etc.
