The spare battery + charger costs $57. You could get a great external battery for any other phone and not have to take the phone out of its case, pop off the back insert the new battery, put the case back on and reboot. If you are buying it JUST for the removable battery, it is a waste.

You are right about the external power pack, but sometimes I just want a small spare battery in the bag in case I go home late and the main battery goes low, not willing to carry a heavy rechargeable battery pack all day long.

Battery charger is optional, I don't mind using the phone itself to charge the other battery once a month or so.

I will agree that this is a Great phone.
Being able to change batteries is a plus!

What happens when the battery starts to fail. You have to send it back for repair and hope that it is covered under warranty....

Not sure if it's like the G5, but the battery charging case on the G5 can be used like a USB power pack. If you were with a friend and they needed to top off, they could plug into the G5 battery case and top off from the battery inside. It's a pretty neat feature that adds some additional functionality to something that would normally only be able to charge one particular type of battery.

Batteries generally last a bit longer than the phone's warranty, it's called hi-tech.

Power users love it. The new crop of tech writers, maybe not so much. Good review though if you ask me.

Love it so far Galaxy S7. Better edge and service.

Perfect example of why I want a removable/user replaceable battery is my current (no pun) situation. Fully encased battery inside my HTC m8 is losing its life, but it's coffin is still functioning fine. The inconvenience to get a new battery installed is piled on top of trusting an installer to do a good and proper install.

Maybe it's just time for a new phone. The m8 has been and still is great. The lack of a replaceable battery is frustrating.

I use the snot out of my devices and after that first year I often start to see the beginnings of the battery degredation such that now I have to charge it during the day at my desk or it's dead by 8pm. or I have to make sure I have a car charger if I listen to it in the car or whatever. Let alone making long phone calls - which I also do.

so a simple battery swap is a good thing for me and something I look for. ONly device I didn't have to do that with - and couldn't was my Moto Razr Maxx - but I bought the Maxx version on purpose.

with my note 3 I bought another battery for it. and like someone said - sure external battery packs - but I'm still eating charge cycles of the pack in the phone. I'm not talking about trading out batteries every day, or even weeks but the ability to get a new battery tomorrow and use it without potentially damaging the phone is a key thing to me.

3rd over all. 1 - expandable memory, 2 - Quality product, 3 - removeable battery.

it's also nice to know if I did get it wet I could take the battery out let it fully dry and I might have a chance of reviving it.

The M8 is a nice phone, fortunately I didn't suffer the battery failure on it because I lost my M8 within the first year during a trip abroad.
