Cookie Question

My company uses a PC based software package for us to punch in and punch out of shifts. When we open the software, there is a check box for this. Apparently, this fuction is thru a cookie. In the location I work at, we do not have a company computer and we are supposed to punch in and out from our personal phone.

On my old phone (Nexus 6P), this check box was present. I recently upgraded to the V20 and, for the life of me, I cannot get this check box to appear, meaning I can't punch in or out of shift from my phone. Does anyone know how I can get this check box to show?

first thought I have is to make sure you are opening that site/link in Chrome. Followed with a check your settings and try the site in desktop mode.

Follow on - check your chrome cookies - it's in the settings - site settings - cookies.

you will want Allowed, and 3rd party allowed.

I'll have to look up how you can check individual cookies in chrome on android but there is a way to see them all and verify you have the cooke for that site you use.

I don't think this is an Android issue, or a cookie issue, or a web browser issue. Just tried going to
https://www.crewscheduler.com
on my desktop using Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Konqueror and all came up with a login page without that 'Punch in/out' checkbox. Also tried it on a Mac running Sierra using Firefox, Chrome, and Safari with the same results. And using my phone using Firefox, again, no 'Punch in/out'. But if you click on that little 'Help' link in between the login box and the big, bold 'ZOLL' type if you read through the FAQ in the 'Punch Module' section there's several brief explanations about setting up and using the login. Below is an example:
>>>>>
How do I punch in or out?

  1. Log in to Crew Scheduler as usual, making sure the “Punch in/out” box is checked. If you don’t see a “Punch in/out” box, then this computer is not a valid punch clock. Contact your supervisor.
  2. You should now be on the Punch screen. Select the Department you will be working for.
  3. The system will detect whether you are punching in or out, and provide a large button to punch.
  4. If you are outside of the grace period for punching, you must select an Exception Code.
>>>>>
They all seem to indicate an administrator of your company's Crew Scheduler needs to configure the Punch Module for your V20 so that 'Punch in/out' box shows up. Do you recall having anyone do this on your 6P?

Nobody from my company did anything with my old 6P. The check box was there from day 1.

Are any of your co-workers also running into the same problem when they've changed phones? Is there someone who is assigned the task of administering the CrewScheduler network that you can contact? Looking through the help pages it doesn't appear to be a user-based function to add a new computer or mobile device as an individual login.

You can set up as many, or as few, computers as you like to be Punch Clocks. To do this, you must be physically present at the computer, and you must have edit permission on the Admin Console screen.
  1. Go to the computer that you want to turn into a Punch Clock. You must be physically present at the machine, or logged in via Terminal Services or Remote Desktop.
  2. Go to Main Menu > Administration > Other Setup > Admin Console
  3. Check the box “Punch Clock Setup” and press [Load]
  4. Enter the settings for this punch clock machine:
    1. Name: a descriptive name for this Punch Clock. This will be stored on the server.
    2. Set as Punch Clock: Select an option to turn the punch clock on or off. This setting controls whether or not you see the “Punch in/out” checkbox on the Login screen.
    3. Punch Mode: This option controls the default setting of the “Punch in/out” checkbox. In Punch Clock mode, the checkbox defaults to ON; in Normal Login mode, the checkbox defaults to OFF.

my thought had to do with setting up your internet settings - if they didn't carry over from your previous device

Because I would think that system wants a specific cookie loaded and it might even need updating periodically. If I recall correctly when I first setup my V20 it's internet setting in chrome didn't carry over from my last phone - and it was set to reject cookies from 3rd parties.

which could be an issue for you.

finally it might also check the devices ID - and it might be a case where they're system doesn't recognize your devices reported ID so it doesn't take.

Otherwise I have nothing - I don't use that system so I have no idea whats on the other side. I'd find your administrator or someone and ask them if there needs to be a swap of sorts.
