I want to find a great android phone that is high quality and high performance, but also under $200 (preferably $150). I've been researching for a few days and some phones that look great are the BLU Life One X and the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3. Which phone is better overall and which do you recommend? Are there any other phones out that I should look into? Thanks for the help.

You are lucky you found deals on these phones. In our Android world, not a lot of manufacturers release phones with specs like that at that price.
If I had to choose, I'd take the Alcatel Idol 3. It seems to have some pretty fine specs, but when choosing an Android (like an Android nerd), it's always about following the heart, and take advice from people who have had a personal experience with that manufacturer and that phone. I've had a phone from Alcatel; it was a piece-of-crap, low-spec device (Alcatel One Touch Evolve), but you can't just take that just from me.

It usually is priced nearer that, in China for the unlocked one. But I presume the Metro PCS version has been subsidized and locked by them.

Best is hard to say but here it goes for devices Under $200, Moto G 2014 is $189, a near stock android experience, good battery life, and decent camera. You don't get LTE, but that can potentially change. Expandable storage too.

Moto G 4th gen is unlocked at $199 and it works on both CDMA and GSM.

Best Buy had the ZTE Zmax 2 for $50. Locked to ATT GoPhone but they will unlock prior to use. If you use ATT or one its MVNOs there is no need to unlock. Personally, I went for the PRO from Metro ($73 out the door) and had it unlocked via eBay. Both are really good phones for the money. YMMV

Well its basically just price now. If I can go higher the Moto G 4th generation seems to be the best pick but the Idol 3 is cheaper and still has great specs. I'm probably just going to get the Idol 3. I couldn't go for any of the carrier exculsive phones because I use At&t.

I have been looking at phones and do not see a significant difference between the Moto G 4th gen and the more expensive phones.

A friend has the Moto G4 LTE phone, it's really nice. I've actually recommended it to folks looking for phones, for the price it's fantastic. The only thing I'd find lacking is no NFC, that leaves me out as a buyer.

I might go with the 32 gb which is $229 from my provider, which is Republic. Or the Moto G Pure which is $349. NFC would be nice, but not necessary. I don't use my phone much as it is.

Now here is a conundrum; I am all set to get the Moto X Pure, which is currently $349, but tomorrow only, the Moto G Plus will be $70 off, $229. If I decide on the Pure regardless, it would be worth the wait to see if that goes on sale during Republic's Black Friday Week. It was worth the extra $50, but is Pure worth the extra $120?
