Help Turn on GPS remotely for lost phone

I misplaced my phone last night, I can still call it and see notifications on it through join. But my location services are turned off so I have no idea where it is. I tried android device manager but that is no good and tried find device on the xiaomi website. I do have root access on the phone so is there anyway I can enable gps remotely or do something to figure out where it is?

There are apps that can enable location services remotely (e.g. Avast anti-theft), but unless they are already installed that doesn't help you. If the phone has an active data connection you can install an app remotely via the Play Store, but you still need to run it and set it up, so that isn't an answer.

So the long and short of it is that retracing your steps and phoning it to see whether you can hear it ring is your best bet.

Try Google device manager. It should work unless you had it disabled on the phone.

I am using MacroDroid to implement a "where are you" function via SMS.
It listens to all incoming messages for the single 'word' "whereareyou" w/o any spaces.

it then turns ON the GPS, gets a new location, and replies back to the incoming SMS message with a reply and Google link to show you where the errant phone decided to be left behind at.

That feature is one of MacroDroid's Templates so you don't even have to know how to create a macro with it. The first 5 macros you create are free.... so give it a try.

In case anyone didn't bother reading the OP, the device is already lost so any solutions requiring physical access to it are useless. :rolleyes:
