I can't get the mobile version of huffington post to display on my phone. When I go to m.huffpost.com it redirects to the full desktop site. I have checked and unchecked the request desktop site button on the menu and I've wiped my chrome cache on my phone. Still no dice. What am I missing?

I'm the OP, didn't realize I wasn't logged in when I posted.

I'm using Adguard which works as a VPN.

When I click that link my phone opens the full desktop site.

This only started a few days ago, maybe right after I updated to nougat on my LG G5 (Verizon).
I suspect that the Adguard proxy is presenting its UA string rather than your phone's own browser UA, and so the Huffington Post site is determining that a desktop browser rather than mobile is being used.

That's how it works, there's a remote browser service running on their servers, which then forwards the pages to your phone minus the ads. Things like Opera Max works like that as well.

So I was thinking that since this happened right after the Nougat update that maybe Huffington Post doesn't recognize the UA string yet. I installed Firefox to see if I got the same redirect with that browser but it loads the mobile site as expected.

I remembered one thing to add. A few days before the Nougat update I loaded the huffpost desktop site on my phone using the Request Desktop option in the settings menu. I don't remember if I ever loaded the mobile site after that.
