Well guys I have to gracefully bow out. I'm switching over to Samsung. I never realized just how much I needed root until I didn't have it. Good luck to you all.
Ditto Mr C..
I cannot say it any better.. I wish you Guys & Gals the best of luck :)
Needing Root just as bad as Mr C, I was able to resurrect my Galaxy Note 4 Root & CM it.
Still have my ZMP since I only paid $39.99 for it.. so I'll peek in.. in 2017 and I'm sure the ZMP will be rooted and ready for some CM ROM development as well ;)
Good Luck Messi !!! Take Care All !

No no no no no! Wtf guys. Do u realize how dope this phone would be with root?? Let alone roms and kernels?? A little partition and over clock at your will this phone could run comp with an s6!! And it's only $100. Shit for all that I'll donate mine and buy another one when u find root. Don't give up!!

---

If exhausted my resources. Tried every root app. Poot, twole root and another form said twole would brick it but it didn't. Actually my phone reeboots at random sometimes. But come on people let's contact twrp, cm , kingroot. This is the best budget phone ever made makes me miss my lg flex but it got up sides like sd card!!

---

How about flashify? It's an app that can download twrp and flash on certain phones. Flash twrp no pc just have a stock recovery or rom on sd. It works on s4. It took me some time but a rom called Wicked had one??

---

First of all please someone tell me why companies do this shit knowing damn well people want root on the device? I mean it would help sales if it was more customizable right?? Smfh I feel like I'm dealing with an iphone

---

I feel like zte would make a lot more money if they cut the security crap. I mean the first zmax was good and they got root herp de dur. But this phone is amazing for a bean and I'm just sitting here thinking about the possibilities with root..... And I live in Philly and trust me I would really like to spoof into xfinity whit this phone like I do my old one!!!!!!

---

BTW does anybody know if the battery is at all replaceable? Like is it a clip or not at all?

These vulnerabilities, one explains using a com port because its not recognized rite somehow and theres a way to gain privilege that could hurt your device (root) and the other aaying you could craft an app containing this tweak or vulnerability, something about mms?? Could someone take a deeper look at these vulnerabilities, remember were not just limited to dirty cow or kingroot!

Actually I had to do that to get kingroot to work on the k10. I never tried on the zmax pro because it let me write /move/copy files anywhere out the box. And root explorer and show hidden files works on es with out root??? Idk man I just really want this phone rooted it's pretty cool especially if it was rootable or custom roms like CM
We definitely all want root on this phone. Please go back to the beginning to see what people have already tried. Many suggestions have been put up and tried. All suggestions are helpful the first time. Also this is a way different phone than your k10. Almost any exploit will not be the same

Yes we know the abilities of this phone. This thread had 55 pages, I guess were looking at it. Putting further pressure will only allow people down or make them leave.

You don't understand root. Twrp is a separate project. It needs the sources to make a compatable file or you brick the machines. We can't even flash twrp because we don't have fastboot. We can't use flashify as it requires root.

Companies lock it down because it's a security problem. If you are rooted and flashboot and twrp first you could brick your phone and they don't want to deal with that. Also it bypasses security so someone could conceivably make a rom that had hidden spyware or could allow a man in the middle attack on your Android pay or whatever and steal your info. Not sure it's happened but it could.

Not sure what you mean spoof into Xfinity, but that sounds like the exact reason companies don't want you rooted.

As for the battery, take a look yourself. I just did and now you can't recover the back (perhaps with tools) but looks like ZTE made the battery permanent. First clue no spot for your nail to pry and secondly the sim and SD have to go into the side. Did you look before you asked If it was removable?

Well nothing is uncrackable. In my opinion this is a relitivly new phone with not so much of a following. All it's gonna take is the right person or people to gain interest

If you look on KingRoot there are over 10000 requests, and it's moved up their list faster than any other phone I've seen. As of last night we were 80 (devices) away from top 200

Just checked with the new KingRoot we are 75 away from the top 200 they are working on, so it may be slow but it works. I panicked with my Stylo 2. Thinking the zmax would get root faster. The zmax seemed to get it pretty quick. Obviously daysv after I switched it got root and it wasn't nearly popular as the stylo2 so just give it a chance guys.

And stop googling and posting every thing that you find about root:). MasterChef and hroark know this business. ;)

You need root access to read and edit root files. Es can do it but after you have root

I was messing with es file manager and there is an edit option there. Not sure if you can save it though. I basically use the edit function in build.prop. To copy and paste lines there to google what those command line does which leads me to...

.... I think I found a way to root this but is VERY complicated. I would link what I found but if you don't want me to link those that I found then nvm.

I would like to try those myself. And mind you not for the faint of heart, It takes a LOT of reading in this article(S) I found. You also have to know what you are doing. But if you read the article and the commands itself has explanation what it does. I even don't know where to try these commands I found. SDK manager?

I actually even found a way to unbrick my shity alcatel. Again don't know where to try those damn commands. I mean what program to run those commands.

One thing I can say though. stock rom use release keys which is what we have. Custom rom use test keys. Developers here if you google the difference between these keys maybe just maybe you can root this.

Your probably referring to linux terminal & shell commands. Most likely they also require the Android SDK, and NDK to run native C & C++ code. That code has to be tailored to the device and compiled. If you don't understand what your looking at, you definitely shouldn't even attempt trying it. Even people who understand and know how to use these tools end up with bricks at this level.

You or anyone else should feel free to DM me a link to what you've found. I've probably already tried it but if not, I will. Either way I will let you know.
