According to their website, it's still marshmallow for this kernel too. Can't find anything referencing to the os in the files inside the tarball though... But it looks like we're getting another patch before nougat, if we get nougat...
im sure we're getting nougat, although that means the kernel would be 4.4.x

Excuse me if I take your comment with a grain of salt. Too many different stories, from different people. On the phone, a rep tells me that ZTE can open access to our bootloader, but probably won't, and online they say they don't even support unlock for the axon 7 which is a lie. On the phone rep says, ZTE doesn't have any intentions of giving the ZMAX pro nougat, on the went chat, I'm told we should see it sometime q1 of this year.

On another note, seems that I'm not having the luck some of you are with temp root through KingRoot. No matter what version I install, it only gets to 70% before failing. There is a site with paid rooting software, that claims to be able to root the ZMAX pro, but I've gotten no response from the developers of the app....

Which is why you always escalate your issue from customer service to device troubleshooting and repair. Again, I used to be a T-Mobile sales rep, I know how the system works a little...

Now, let's please keep on topic about rooting the ZMAX pro. I'm tired of chasing my posts across the forums when mods move them.

I had the same hope and fear.. I think b13 is a patch n hopefully some UI changes.. if it's just a patch I rather avoid it.. b14 I think might be nougat it seems.. time will tell. It's just a thought. I'm working on something old but interesting. I'll report if it's tangible. I want to know since someone got Odin to recognize the zmax pro, can we use Odin to flash b13 kernel and possibly mod it to be permissive prior to flash? I ask cause I thought Odin could flash .Tar or .Tar.gz..

- Wasn't trying to snitch or police the thread, just don't see how a completely different device with a COMPLETELY different setup is relevant? Either way, as to abide by forum rules and to stay on topic:

I'm picking apart the tarball to find a bin file that I can check for CVE. Messi I really wish you'd PM me so I could give you an update from my end. This is 100% on ZTE and the direction on Zforums has been quite hostile from ZTE reps. With that being said the B13 derivative is for Metro only, which I'm praying to the GMAN that it's a bootloader unlock/fastboot patch. The reasons why that would make sense are not many, but it would be a godsend. TMobile would come second since they test new releases on Metro for about a week before shooting over to the mainstream TMobile.

Some guy on Youtube claims to have made a root method for the ZTE Zmax Pro. If someone knows the guy from XDA maybe we can add him to this forum too.

It's available as .Tar.gz I downloaded it and tried to upload here but don't think this site recognizes .Tar.gz files
Maybe you could stick that file inside a .zip or .rar or
7z file. Or change the file extension and have the downloader change it back when they download it. Just a thought.

I can't find that, if you're referring to the google forums video it's clickbait. Can't find any other vid can you post link? I installed B14 via SD this morning and a new partition is found by Dparted. Unsure what this is, but im working on a sort of signing exploit at the moment after finding out a nice little fact from a underpaid, tired, and probably sick of hearing the same thing - ZTE rep who said that the signing key for the OTA is the same as the one for the MVNO skin files.

How are people getting anywhere with KingRoot when everytime I have installed it for testing purposes along my exploit creation path, it simply gives me the option to request a "modification" from the developers for my device. No percentage circle etc. Just wondering what you guys are doing that I am not, not a fan of OCR (One Click Root) programs, but having a dev background I cant even get it to work remotely -_-
