I copied several music files to the android tablet.
Google play music is no use to me.
A cannot get rid of the recommendations.
Dont like it's cluttered UI.
Can I play the music without the omnipotent google?
I wont download music
Do I need an app at all?
Thanks all

Google Play Music app is more for purchasing and streaming music from Google Play than for just playing your music files. There is probably an app named Music or Music Player that came installed on your tablet that you can use. For a more full featured music player I like the Power Amp app.

Of course you can, we do it all the time on Android in China. And I can assure you Google is anything but omnipotent, especially around these parts.

What's your music source, if it's just MP3s or something stored on the device. you don't need any third-party apps.

What country are you in, and what actual phone, tablet or TV box have you got there?

Google Play Music may not be available unless you're in the United States.

The question is what apps are preinstalled on your tablet. You could ask in this forum that is dedicated to your tablet. The online users guide for your tablet says ...

Music Player

Learn to listen to your favourite music while on the go with
the music player. The music player supports the following file
formats: mp3, aac, ogg, wma, flac, m4a.

You can also play music files in the following formats
if you open them from My files or the web browser:
mid, xmf, rtttl, imy, rtx, ota, amr, wav, mxmf.

Some file formats are not supported depending on
the software of the device.

If the file size exceeds the available memory, an error
can occur when you open files.

Playback quality may vary by content type.

Some files may not play properly depending on how
they are encoded.

... Thom
