Welcome to the new Android Forums!

The brand new version of AndroidForums.com you’re currently seeing has been in development for almost a year, built side-by-side with our app, and is inspired by Material Design and was built from the ground up with the Android users in mind.

If you haven’t already, download our official Forums for Android app, which works seamlessly with the new website.

Aside from the visual appeal of our new look (beautiful, ain’t it?), we reimagined what a truly helpful, entertaining, and valuable Android Community would include. And then we built it.

The “Devices” and “Apps & Games” section are populated using real data from real devices using the Forums for Android app. Every single device and app therefore have their very own discussion community that the community itself can help mold.

There are various "quick finder" boxes that will autocomplete with topics to help you find exacty what you're looking for, or, if you just want to browse, you can do that too.

Take special note of the “Favorites” section at the top of the homepage (must be logged in) or by clicking “Favorites” in the left menu. After adding some favorites, check out the two filters on the homepage, where you can find new and trending posts from only your favorite forums, helping bubble up the conversations most relevant to you.

It may take some time to get familiar with the new look and feel, but once you have, we're confident you'll love it as much as we do.

What do you think?!?!?! Let us know in the replies!

Your feedback will help us squash bugs, iron out issues we overlooked, and build our feature wishlist to help direct future development.

Two things I DO NOT LIKE about the new Android Forums, signatures have gone, and something I truly detest, the diddy little round avatars. Bring back the larger square ones please. Is it the intention to remove the individuality and personality of AF members and make us all generic and the same, because that's what it seems like to me.

6. I could not find this link anywhere. Where did you find it?

As in the past I am not allowed to change Guides to Guide. It still seems weird to me but not critical.

Unlike the past I can not delete the Current Status line to just make it not present. Each of these changes is tracked FOREVER. It would seem that simply removing the old ones as an option would be helpful.

7. The Tasker area is rather hidden. I recommend that the Tasker area be listed in the Apps & Games header or the Android Development header as a sub-forum.

Thank you for the information.

I use Internet Explorer and that does not exist with Internet Explorer.

On the main page an avatar and link with my logon name appears to the far right under the title. If I click on it I go to the Profile Posts page. There is no way in Internet Explorer that I can find to get to the page in question.

I just loaded Firefox and there is an avatar at the top of every page and it take me to the page in question.

Internet Explorer = ?
Firefox = your way

Agreed!! I made my avatar with a square frame in mind.. Plz change it back or give us the option of square/round avatars. Jeez, I feel like you guys went all Apple on us with an Android name.

14. Disappearing Icons in Internet Explorer

The strange "toggle width" control at the bottom of the main area (sometimes) is the key.

When the title starts at the far left edge the three icons sometimes get dropped off.

When the title is not starting on the far left edge the three icons are always displayed.

If I have Internet Explorer configured with the width control like post #111 the three icons on the top right just disappear.

(No ... unfortunately I am not making this up.)

Interesting: I just discovered that there doesn't really seem to be a "mobile" site: if I narrow the window of my desktop browser it first loses the right-hand sidebar, then the left one, and turns into what I thought was the mobile site.

However, the bug I posted above remains in 2 of my phone browsers (Ghostery and NB Pro) even when I request the desktop site. Firefox however switches to a view where the left sidebar is still present - seems to be scaling differently, behaving as if it has a wider screen than the others.

Conversely I cannot reproduce that bug in Safari on my laptop, since it won't let me narrow the window enough. With desktop Firefox though there seems to be a minimum width to the cards, and if I narrow below that it then behaves as I'm seeing it in the mobile browsers: the cards will the full widge of the screen (no sides visible) and the "Android News" title is offset off the left of the display.

15. Logon with internet Explorer

I run Registry Mechanic every Saturday and it always cleared my Android Forum account. It did not do so today. Conclusion ... the information is no longer being stored in the registry?

So I logged off.

For the life of me I could not find a way to logon.

The begging at the top of the main page is apparently ads ... one is about email access.

I tried going through that without giving any information and Norton's identified it as a malicious site, So I left.

I tried again ... this time asking for something in the left column ... it created an error page saying I had to logon and it accepted by username and password and logged me on.

The path for a returning user to gain access is very unclear.

Do those apparent ads at the top of the main page have ANYTHING to do with Android Forums other than revenue?

Thanks for the heads up.

I use Internet Explorer. There was no button.
I tried Firefox and there was button.
I tried manipulating the "curious" width button at the bottom in Internet Explorer and playing with the text size.
The button appeared and I logged on.

Someone using Internet Explorer and not knowing to play with the width issue will never see the button.

I reported that problem in IE. It has to do with scaling. If you scroll to the bottom left of the page above the copyright statement there is the "Toggle Width" button. Hit that and the login button will appear in IE.

As I reported earlier ... I found that button ... it is part of the solution.

1. On my screen the button has to be set so the heading is not at the far left.
2. I then have to adjust the magnification until the buttons at the top of the page appear.

The way I had Internet Explorer configured for the last umpteen years hid the buttons on the right side until I finally found them.

The solution is to make it so that critical buttons don't get dropped off the screen by mistake.

There will be a lot of tuning of the formatting I'm sure. I did not mention any of these. This one is critical.
