Google Assistant - Google

I did get an update to the app yesterday but still no Google Assistant.

Yeah, I did too. I heard that it's a server side switch, which means we have to wait for Google to turn on a "switch" that will enable Assistant on our devices. Also, I read somewhere that you have to be on Google Play Services 10.2.98 or above. I'm on 10.2.99.

The wait is killing me. :D

Try saying " 'Okay Google'..." and an open/do something command" with your screen off. Just started working for me today on my HTC 10. Samsung cannot be that far behind.

Not with Power Off though... Although I haven't tried It, I'm pretty sure that your phone should be powered on before you try any voice commands.

Are you sure you are talking about Google Assistant and not Google Now? Once your phone gets assistant, you will be able activate it by holding the home button.

Why? I'm just talking to my phone now and it's answering.

Google Assistant is this. The main focus of Assistant is the conversation-like interaction. You still have the voice aspect of course, but the conversation part is the main focus.

I don't want it. I don't need it. I have all the info I need stored in other apps.

I'd rather have a sky chart from Sky Safari or Mobile Observatory open up than whatever Google decided on. The same for any other nature apps. I don't do social on the phone.

I have the MLB app with all the latest scores, I have my own weather apps, why do I need assistant? It can't find my glasses or tell me if the cat spit its pill out.
