I also stumbled upon a link on how to create mbn just this morning. Do you have the link. You can DM to me if you can't link it here. I am using it to unbrick my alcatel though. Better if you have all programs needed?
Yes.. I'll link you later today.. I've been up for 2 days working on phones and chasing my kids.. body shutting down at random..

Any word from Messi? I'd make it myself if I knew how
Speaking of Messi..
I want to personally thank Messi for his hard work on Root, TWRP and now a custom rom.
Im realy loving this phone. Once you release the LineageOS rom ill port over my custom OC'd kernel and get this Stylo 2 Plus going strong.
I've learned alot reading all your post. Hopefully more devs will help too. Also thanks to Rmontoya for his input as well.
LG
Lifes Good
Question Messi?
Is your rom based off 10i or version 10p?

I know there is alot of smart guys on here but it's gonna be that one guy who figures out an exploit and save the day.

2 years or so back when I had a ZTE Max/Iconic phone. The $100 6 inch phone back in 2014-2015 it was "SuperR" that saved all of us.

Nobody could do much with the phone. This one guy came out with everything for our phone. Custom deodexed, debloated ROM, all the files, flashes, links, everything. Than when we got 4.4 he did the same thing. Than he gave us a OC kernel with some other tweaks. Without him, that one guy our phones would have been just like our scenario now.

This is kinda off topic but it just gives me that deju vu feeling with this ZTE also.

The talk above about overclocking and govs makes me miss root so much. I'm not a dev, I'm a tweaker. If this discussion was more about swappiness, gov tuning, clocking, etc etc I can chime in alot more. Still hopeful one day while I own this phone we get root. Xposed alone is worth it
Like i stated 8 monts ago.
The original zmax was rooted via kingroot via software kernel panic exploit. That only worked on kit kat 4.4.2 The zmax pro will never get dev suppport like the original 5.7 inch zmax.
mondilger, MasterChef, hroark, dfuse and ethanbanker..they brought the zmax to life..the odds of it happening again. Its been 10 months ..do the math
Also the the zmax pro has a Locked Bootloader. the original was Unlocked..

If the ZTE Pro were to be rooted (eventually) would the same apply to the ZTE 2? Or would it be just as difficult.
Every phone has a different procedure. If the 2 supports FTM/EDL, and we can build a firehose, it'll work the same. If it's using classic fastboot, it'll be a different method and so on. I haven't worked on the 2 so take what I say with a grain of salt. Just my speculation with working with android.

If root is found before the 2 comes out officially then it would need not be released publicly till the pro 2 is out.

Everytime a new phone is released they patch the exploit/procedure to root from the previous phone.

There's only been speculations and rumors about any type of "Release date" but if a root were possible I'm not so sure it will be held untill the 2 drops.

People are on the edge as it is with ZTE so holding the release for a root when there hasn't been any talk on release dates for the successor will make people anxious. But then again , it being this difficult to root a budget phone the genius behind the root might take that precaution.

I have a new problem about not having root now. I bought a USB-C thumb drive, and apparently, ZTE has that capability disabled in software.
ZTE changed the way that some of the pins are wired up in the USB C port. I'm guessing if you find out exactly what they changed, you could make an adapter and OTG could be restored.

So Wikileaks just released some CIA Hacking Tools including Android Exploits. Hopefully the devs here can find something that will help in our cause. Here is the link:

https://wikileaks.org/ciav7p1/

Also included in the leaks are some Android Exploits and Hacking tools that are redacted at the moment, but could soon be published.

There is some stuff on privilege escalation in android. Maybe we could have some leads.
