New MetroPcs Phone Advice

Hey, I've had Metro for a while now cuz of their cheap unlimited plan. My current phone is on it's death bed, and as usual, their current phone selection is matter of weeding thru the "best" entry level phone or pay $700 for something top of the line.
I'm not too hard to please. Besides calls and texts I just use the internet browser, youtube and listen to music.
I can't deal with a phone bigger than 5", that's my main criteria. after that I just want a phone that had fairly quick load times, decent battery, can hold more than 3 apps on phone storage and a good speaker.
Any suggestions on which phone I should choose basec on what I mentioned? I can't really go higher than $100.

Thanks,
Adam

I'd suggest the Moto G4 Play which is only $99 if purchased as an Amazon Prime Exclusive phone:
https://www.amazon.com/b/?ie=UTF8&node=14613304011

That means two things:
  • You'll need Amazon Prime but it's only $70 (I think) and it TOTALLY pays for itself over the course of 1-year.
  • You'll see lockscreen and offers
Curious what others recommend!

I think I might know someone with an Amazon prime acct, so I'll check out the moto G4.
The ZTE Pro has a 6" display.. too big for me. Can't deal with a phone bigger than 5".
I wonder what the price of the Galaxy Amp is without activation; the 79$ price tag is with acct activation..Seems like a great phone at that price, but I'm stickin w/ Metro.
The LG Artisto seems like the best Metro phone at my price point, but it's still pretty feeble.
I totally forgot that you could bring in your own device. What's the network Metro uses (which of the other carriers uses that network)? i know some phones are made for a different network/carrier that isn't compatible w/ Metro's.
Thanks.

If you are not scared to buy a refurb or used phone, buy an old flagship (T-Mobile) from 2014 or 2015 if you can get it under $100. They are still alot better than the other Metro phones under $100.

I bought an LG G3 for $99 and it worked great on metro. It's my backup phone now.

Just tossing ideas out there.

Seems like everything is better than metro's selection. I might buy refurb, but not used. phone's all get slower and worse as u use them more and more.
I'm not a phone enthusist, so I only know the most basic stuff about brands and models, barely nothing. I'll do a search for "best phone of 2015" and see if I can find a new old stock for cheap.

oh ya, what's the importance of RAM? What does it do exactly?
RAM, Random Access Memory, is very fast storage used to store system files, open apps, and data the phone is using. It's separate from the phones internal storage.

The more RAM your phone has the better, right now most people recommend having 2GB or more RAM. (Although based on your first post you might be OK with 1GB or 1.5GB.)

I went ahead and ordered that G4 play. I spent $130 to get the one without amazon prime lockscreen/ads. Not exactly sure what that is, but it sounded horrible.

Anyone know if it comes with a protector? If not, can u still buy them in stores or is that phone not sold anymore? Prob can get one cheaper on amazon prime, but I like to check 'em out first; dont want something too bulky. I cant remember the name of the one I have for my current phone. It has a floppy rubber protector and then a thin shell plastic that goes over it. Sound familiar to anyone?
