Videos turning sideways when copied to PC

I have had several of the videos I recently shot on my Galaxy S6 get turned sideways (rotated 90 degrees clockwise) after I copied them to my PC. They were shot in the proper orientation (wide screen) and they play back on the phone that way as well. However, when you browse for the file on the PC, the thumbnail is sideways, and when I play it on Windows Media Player it plays sideways. I have the software to fix it, I would just like to know why this happened. Other videos shot around the same time are fine. And yes, let me please reiterate, this is not a matter of shooting the video with the phone turned to "portrait".

Thank you.
