How to dismiss call without sending to voicemail?

    Whenever you dismiss a call it sends the caller directly to voicemail. That basically advertises to them, "Yes, I saw your call, and chose to not answer it!"

    Is there a way you can set your dismissed calls to keep ringing in the background so the person doesn't know you're dismissing them and instead just thinks you missed the call?
     
    Silencing it isn't the issue... that's easy to do. My problem is that I want to use my phone after silencing it instead of staring at the phone call waiting for it to go to voicemail.It seems crazy that this isn't an option.
    I set the custom notification levels for the phone app to level 3, this way all calls don't have a full screen interruption.

    I think you can also drag down the notification shade while the phone is ringing, go into settings via the gear icon then hit the home button and continue to use the phone.
