Only 12 megapixels?

Is this accurate for the camera? I only ask because the S6 has 16 megapixels. That's a sizable downgrade.

Edit: I'm trying to post this to the Galaxy S8 forum but it keeps posting here.

Yep it does have a 12MP camera, the same or similar camera they had for the S7 which was highly praised. A lower MP count doesn't mean the camera is worse.

Supposedly there are software improvements, we'll know more on the picture quality as more people get the S8.

Actually with the teeny-tiny sensors that phone cameras have I would rather have 12Mpix than 16. More pixels = smaller pixels = worse signal/noise, so quality is a balance between that and resolution (though frankly the image processing is more important than either). There's a reason why all of the highest-rated phone cameras in the last year have been 12Mpix, with most manufacturers having pulled back from the ever higher pixel counts of earlier years.
