my moto g 2 suddenly stopped recognising sims. i did factory set but nothing is changing.

If you are sure it is installed correctly and is not being recognized ... I would take it to where I bought it and get a replacement SIM.

Hmmm, okay, that was going to be my next question, but you've answered it. I'd check the sim slot for any debris. If a small bit of paper got in there it could easily keep the sim from being read properly. The only other thought is that the contacts got damaged and that would be something you'd have to send the phone into a service shop to fix.
