Quick tip for Iris Scanner unlock users

I got my Galaxy S8+ on Saturday and I'm loving it so far. I found this tip on YouTube this evening (apologies to those who have already figured this out for themselves).

Settings > Lock screen and security > Iris Scanner > Iris unlock when screen turns on (toggle to on)

This enables you to unlock your phone with the iris scanner immediately after waking your phone instead of having to perform an extra swipe first.

How often do you find yourself using the Iris Unlock vs Fingerprint? I imagine that Iris Unlock works fine during daytime where light is ample and you use Fingerprint in lowlight?
I'm using the iris scanner pretty much exclusively during the day (it works very well indoors although I think it struggles outside particularly when you are back lit).

It also seems to work well in lowlight and even dark conditions although the distance between your face and the phone seems to be more critical then (there is a red light at the top of the phone, presumably infrared, which shines briefly in lower light conditions to assist the scanner).

I have also enabled the fingerprint sensor. I have a case fitted to my phone and use the sloped edges of the case around the camera lens/sensors to quickly find the sensor. I imagine I would have a lot more difficulty with this if my phone was nude/caseless.

Fingerprint sensor on the S8 is all around slow and inaccurate. Iris scanner works much better and in some cases almost as fast.

And yes, it works fine in the dark since it uses an IR sensor to read your eye patterns. In fact, even facial recognition works fine in the dark (although not as quick as iris scanning). I'm guessing it has something to do with the light from the display illuminating the face.

That doesn't sound like much of a recommendation for S8 to me then. Because I did find the Note7 fingerprint scanner to be very satisfactory during the few weeks I used it.

YMMV of course. :)

I believe it, the Galaxy S7/Edge had a great fingerprint reader. Never gave me any issues. The S8 regressed somehow.
