This site just erase all the info i wrote you guys so im really mad.. It was helpful but ill make it short member Bigcountry907 is who you guys been looking for.. He is the only one i know that can make the partition.xml from the partition file in the ota.. You guys need it to make the programmer file needed to root via qfil.. Ive successfully flashed the programmer from the g4 on v10 but its beyond hard brick.. Its at the point of no return cause the partition was meant for the g4 but the chipset was the same so qfil flashed it.. Once you have your partition.xml you guys can use qfil to make the other files needed for qfil in qpst.. I used the newest version. Bigcountry might be able to help with other aspects.. Make sure to give due credit.. Credit to messi and the guy who spawn the idea of using mbn in the original thread.. I can never remember his name..

Once again, Metro over here has NOTHING to do with boot-loader, rooting, etc. ZTE is simply lying through their teeth. This phone has been THE single phone in six years that I have not been able to crack. (With or without anyone else's help.) From official channels, expect B15 on 4/28 to coincide with the ZTE MAX for Boost being launched (same phone, re-branded, with nougat) As far as I know, this update will be our best shot, since the signing key can be matched against the previous one sent to Messi and Jcon. A birdie told me all updates are signed with the same key, so as to be able to OTA via SD without ANY web connection. The RSA-256 key is hanging out on some partition. Fire-hose won't work, swapping a similar boot-loader will brick, my only hope is the update - or better yet, finishing up this exploit that uses the Device Unlock utility on the Metro version. Will still keep posted, sorry for being gone for over a month, corporate isn't a fan of me posting this stuff.

Are you talking about me? LOL. Ya you guys you better give me credit for that genius idea of mine. And I concur about Bigcountry907. I must admit though his method is just... mind blowing hard to follow.

Not posting much coz I also ran out of ideas. But checking this thread everyday. From me who does not care about root anyway but there really is something interesting to a phone this hard to crack.

This phone is seriously rubbing me the wrong way. I have exhausted all my knowledge. I can't break this thing 😑.

King root has been unsuccessful at root as well. I will continue to check in on you guys and input when I can.

Honestly it is a bit sad, i've been watching this forum for a while now. I like the look of the device, i'd like to have it. Mostly because it has a gyroscope and it is relatively inexpensive. However now ZTE releases a new phone, worse specs. And no gyroscope. Which costs more than the zmax pro?? Who does that. Also why would you lock the phone from being modded, that is basically the only way to enjoy a phone these days. Thanks for your efforts guys, I wish you luck. Maybe someday this phone will get rooted and a proper custom rom.

That and just getting fed up with ZTE's unparallelled retardation problem. Such as rereleasing the zmax pro under a different name and for more money. Absolutely no sense. Well now we know why they have been such assholes about root and Nougat on the zmax pro. They wanted to sell the zmax pro separately with nougat and call it a new phone and see how many people they can scam into buying the same phone they already have. AND charging more for it than they were almost a year ago when it really WAS new. Just compared the specs, and they are almost the exact same, except that the zmax pro has a slightly faster CPU and RAM than the more expensive Nougat model. And the zmax pro has twice the internal storage. The only place the XL pulls ahead is in the number of sensors.

So instead of fixing this phone and upgrading it to 7.0 ZTE makes a whole new ZMAX phone with the same exact specs GPU CPU camera screen ram it's not even an upgrade what a shitty move to not update the ZMAX pro and make a new phone just for software https://www.technobuffalo.com/2017/...max-xl/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

When i read this I laughed so hard. I must say this is the second worst phone I've ever dealt with. Granted it was awesome when I first purchased it then it started to slowly turn into a pos, even after I had it replaced 3 times i got the same problems, I will never buy another zte product again. Tomorrow I will be buying me a new device that can actually be rooted.

I was told I should've researched this phone before I purchased it.
Lol, yeah like I'm supposed to know it was going to be the first unrootable phone ever.
Still OK for the price though.

Earlier someone said we should deem this phone unrootable because then more people would be up to the task to root it, I completely agree.

Some metalhead (seriously that's his username) in ZTE website zmax pro forum is saying he found the bootloader. But wants money for it though. Go bombard the guy there. LOL

I'd like to see how that exchange works. He expects someone to pay him first and then he sends them instructions? Yeah right, my bet is he's a scammer.

I saw the posts he made, he doesnt have a clue what he is talking about.

Especially the part that made me laugh is he said he had root, but hasnt tested it yet.

How does he know he has root then?

I swear our phone has root from the factory. That's my new strategy. Unlock the hidden root already built in.

No expert by a long shot but as a layman this makes no sense to me. Doesn't every Android device "have root", and the solution is always to figure out how to access it? Obviously there is a way for us to gain root permission on this device but we haven't found out how, so what do you mean exactly?

The Boost Max has a BOOTLOADER!! Just confirmed with a customer that came in for a case, (yes Metro cases even fit it.) Even better, he said he'd stop by my place later so I can pull the MBR and keys if there is any!

Keeping ya'll posted.
Expected that, I'm sure it was zte decision to remove the fastboot access on the zmax pro not t-mobile as most t mobile low and midrange devices can be bootloader unlocked easily..
