Obviously I'll ask the seller to take a closer look at the phone before I go ahead with things, so how can I check if it's not a replica? Furthermore, how can I check if it's functioning properly? Is there some sort of benchmark app that'll tell me whether or not the phone's internals are fine and its performance is fine?

Any extra tips?

Thank you.

I presume you're in the US or something. I think the most important and thing to consider and check when buying a used phone, is to ensure it that it isn't IMEI or MEID blacklisted. And meet the seller at the carrier store so they can check to ensure it's in good standing. I believe Swappa is a good place to buy used phones

Knock-off Samsungs are more of a problem if you're buying from China, like buying cheap online.

I'm in Portugal, and I'll be meeting with the seller face to face, of course :)

I'll bring my sim card to see if the phone detects it and I can make calls and send texts with it. I'll also bring a mini power bank thing to see if the phone will charge.

Any other tips?

I agree with Mike, if you are in the US then Swappa is the best place to buy a used phone. You're taking a big chance with EBay, Craigslist and other free-market sites where you really can't be sure what you're getting until it's in your hands and paid for. While Swappa isn't perfect they do verify their sellers and products so you have a much better chance of getting what's advertised.

Edit- oh well just saw where you are so forget what I said.

Guys, check these pictures out: http://imgur.com/a/N12s7

I did some googling and everything looks legit, but what about how the time is displayed on the screen? Isn't it supposed to have that drop shadow effect thing? Maybe I'm looking way too into it.

Also just realized there's an S7 for only 30 more bucks than that S6, except it's got a small dent on the lower right corner of the screen. The S7 is waterproof, though. Think the IP68 rating is important?
