A friend needs a phone upgrade
Their Moto X (2014) 16GB is running low and phone freezing up.

The Moto G Plus (5th Gen) seems like a perfect phone for a normal person.

2GB RAM

$230

To get 4GB and 32GB storage, it's $299.

1) Is it worth paying the $299 for 4GB/32GB
2) Once you're at $300, what's the next step up?

Depends what they need. If you mean their 16GB Moto X is getting low on space then I would recommend more storage with the 64GB/4GB Moto G5 Plus (there isn't a 32GB/4GB version).

Or if they want to keep it for 3 years the 4GB will help.

If you can, get something with 64GB internal storage, especially if you plan on keeping it for a few years.

If your friend can afford it then tell your friend to get the higher ram option as it will definitely help the phone stay serviceable on the long run.

Ideal except that for some strange reason it doesn't have NFC, at least in the U.S. I don't use it that often, but Android Pay is nice to use sometimes. It's probably not a showstopper for me, but I'll have to think about it.

I don't get why it has no NFC, seems pretty stupid in this day and age. I use Android pay all the time so this phone just wouldn't work for me. Otherwise, it is a great phone, the peeps I know who have really like it.

It might not be the perfect phone (no phone can be), but it certainly throws down a marker that phones need to be judged against... (in that price range anyway)

How does having more ram make the phone last longer? The last phone I had was the 1st gen moto g and that thing lasts 3yrs or so.
