Hello! I just want to thank you messi for all of your hard work on getting the LG Aristo rooted!

I have been following this thread and the Zmax pro thread, it seems you guys are getting somewhere with that stubborn phone. :)

The main reason I'm commenting is because I've managed to get Google Assistant on the LG Aristo!

How I did it:

1. Downloaded FX File Manager and the root addon.

2. Went to /system/

3. Remount /system as read/write

4. Edit build.prop and add the following line "ro.opa.eligible_device=true" (Without Quotes) to the end of the file

5. Save, remount system read only, and reboot

6. Cleared data of both the google app and google play services

Finally, hold down the home button and assistant pops up.

Hoped this helped for the people who wanted assistant on the Aristo. :)

EDIT:Sorry, forgot to put save then remount read only.

Sorry for the sloppiness, typed this on my phone.

Thanks Odin89, My confusion has been that the white screen said Factory Reset, which is what I thought we don't want. I thought I was missing something or doing something wrong. If you look at the gqukyo/messi posts #128 - 130, last Friday at 5:52 PM, it's exactly the same confusion. I wasn't here the last few days to see it.
[EDIT: When I said that I tried it several times, I meant that I started over & re-flashed the recovery each time, not that I kept trying after the *1* time. Sheesh... I said both too much & too little in all those posts ]
Now that I know, I'm about to DL the new build & try again

When I run the Fastboot flash recovery I get command not found
Any suggestions I have mac os x

Rooted and stable...thank you..
Only hitch i ran into..Windows 8.1 wasn't cool with fastboot for some reason...
Solution: Windows 7 had no issues..
Installed atmos...already tried to edit mixer_paths.xml ..but,i think since ii just tried to use the stock text editor of didn't stick.....
I just want to boost the notification sounds a few hairs ....it's practically mandatory since I'm partially deaf...
Thanks for getting me this far Aristo fam!!!

I have one question. I have been reading about rooting LG Aristo(T-Mobile). On most of my research i have found that you can only root it by connecting it to a desktop or laptop. Is that true? or are there any APK's that can be downloaded and root it with the phone?
There aren't apk's for rooting the Aristo, but beyond rooting, it's important to flash a recovery. A recovery restores everything on the phone to the state it was in when that recovery was made... Android settings, apps, data, SMS... everything. If you make recoveries on a regular basis, you won't lose much data if you have to restore the system.

If you follow the steps in the beginning post, you will have both root and recovery when you finish. If you get stuck, people here will talk you through any confusion or problems. The important things are: back up all your data before you start, allow yourself plenty of time, and follow the instructions exactly. If you are unsure about something or if you hit a snag, just post your questions ;)

Made more attempts to pump up the vol..
I dunno why i thought gaining universal init.d would help...
but,it didn't help nor blow things up..i guess i got lucky...lol..
I know sorta what to do ..but,if i don't have a Rom to edit and flash...I'll just have to wait ....
Somebody did it for the stylo...but,the values were insane...
so i edited it..and turned my phone into an echo machine...lol...
I just want to bump up ringtones and notifications...with out editing wav n mp3 gain ..and end up making nice things sound like explosions...

FYI for anyone who might have the same situation or wants to redo their rooted phone.

I decided to finally take the system update and here is what I did:
  1. Backup your phone using LG Backup to SD card.
  2. Install LG Bridge software on your PC, use it to update your phone. Upon reboot, you will get an "encryption unsuccessful" message and you must choose to reset the phone. You will lose root and your device will get wiped. This is normal. But your bootloader will remain unlocked.
  3. Follow all the instructions in the initial post starting from "flashing the recovery" to reroot.
  4. After your phone is up and running again rooted, restore your LG Backup from SD card.
It was easy.
