The Pixel 2 'walleye' and 'taimen' specs have been leaked

A new rumor from XDA gives a look at the specs for the upcoming Pixel 2 lineup. The Pixel 2 'walleye' will feature a 4.97 FHD display with the Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.

The Pixel 2 'taimen' will feature a 5.99-inch OLED display, along with the Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.

I do hope this is wrong:

* smaller device having same screen, essentially same design as last year, trading headphone jack for front-facing speakers (poor trade IMO, though nobody ever commended the Pixel for its headphone output). A very weak effort at this point.

* larger device being a whale with a 6" 16:9 display (because that's what 1440p means) - shrink the bezels on that as much as you can and it's still 8cm wide.

If this is all true then the only interesting device as far as I'm concerned is the one that was cancelled (since this report would imply that the longer aspect ratio device reported the other week, i.e. bigger screen without huge width, is no more).

Of course, on contract £45+ pm I would think. If not a touch more.
That always depends on how much you are prepared to spend upfront. Deals with no upfront charge are always more expensive over the course of 2 years.

But I agree with admyrick on the likely pricing, assuming storage options are as at present. If the base storage increases they might bump the smaller one slightly (or might not, or might decide the raise the UK price anyway to hedge against further exchange rate drops - who knows?).

No dual camera? No 6 gig ram? Very bad move

After asking a few of my buddies who either own or have owned the Pixel, they say that it still offers the best camera, even better than that of the GS8 and LG G6. So, I wouldn't go so far as to say that not including a dual camera set up is a "very bad move".

As for the 6GB of RAM claim, Samsung has made it obvious that you don't need 6GB in a device for it to still be snappy. Would more RAM equal better longevity? Sure, but it's definitely not a necessity and again wouldn't be a "very bad move" to include "only" 4GB.

I agree Hadron, however I tend to find even if you are paying an upfront fee the actual deal the carrier is offering is either poor in terms of what you get IE very basic or the complete opposite where they are packing far to much into the deal making you feel your getting ripped off either way.. o_O

Certainly what I found with the first Pixel, last thing you want to do is be stuck in a high price monthly deal and have a crap deal for 24 months.

It would be great if the pixel XL 2 does have 6 inch screen and dual front speakers, if they have those things with a headphone jack, I think we could see an incredible phablet, call it Nexus 6 2.0, I however am taking all I read with a grain of salt. I am sort of expecting Google to put two more 5.5 pixel phones, maybe have one at 5.6 or 5.2 screen size and I wouldn't be surprised if Google did away with the headphone jack on both phone.
