Accessing photos DCIM how?

Can anyone help accessing files.

I connect this new phone via USB, but cannot access the camera. Also called Alcatel Idol.

There's nothing in the DCIM folder except a Facebook folder. I've searched the phone for Camera or photos, nothing. Checked permission - nothing.

Never had a problem with Android before, I know the photos are in there but can't find them when connected to my Win10 PC to transfer them

Are you using a third-party app for clicking photos? You could also try searching for .jpg or .png files on your phone when connected to the your computer.

And remember you don't have to search for the files in Dcim folder, instead search for it in the whole device itself.

Hi, I've been doing this but no luck

Tried backing them up but can't do that either - any suggestions appreciated

Install Google photos on the phone,it should back them up automatically. Then go to photos.google.com on your PC and download them.
