Help "Message not sent" error, driving me crazy.

Solution suggestion: In some cases, you just finished messing around with some messaging options on your phone before this may have started... At least I did. :(

I accessed my phone's 'Message Center' and changed the then registered number to my own - thinking I'm cute-n-shit over here.... That ****ed it up. No messages going out then.

So I had to call cricket(cell service provider) to retrieve my service providers Message center' number - Yup, we ****ed up that bad...

Once connected to them, I went down these options to access this setting adjustment:
  1. Settings(gear icon)>
  2. Messages(under applications)>
  3. Text Messages>
  4. Message Center>
Entered there the recommended number(everyone reading should update this comment with there message center number, if required):
  • Cricket wireless | +19703769830
Once update with this, no restart required - #Good2Go!!!

Hope this helps troublemakers.

Glad that worked out for you. Unfortunately I do not have Cricket Wireless. But this might help out someone who does. I better call my provider (T-Mobile) To fix this. Might be my SIM card

Hello Friends - This has been driving me nuts too: Getting "Message not sent" and Error code 425. The only thing "new" on my phone was that I added the ability to text message via Facebook ("Facebook Messenger"). I deleted the app from the phone, double-checked to see that it was deactivated on my Facebook page, and re-booted. Everything works fine now. Hope this is helpful for some of you!

At the lower right of the message screen there are three vertical dots, if the touch you can delete all threads. It worked, no more did not send messages. Just did it so phone can make a liar of me yet. In the past I had deleted one thread at a time until all were gone but still got the infuriating message. Don't know why it worked, hope it does for you.

Have you face "Unable To Send Text Until Service Is Available"? I just sent sms out after a few days try and error and search a lot of forum to find out the solution, but no one can directly solve the problem. I also not sure what I did untill can send out. Anyway hope these can help u:
1) My signal is good. I can send sms out (I test with sms to myself) by stock messaging but cannot with Handcent. Both can receive sms.
2) I reg with Handcent, and update, still cannot send.
3) I open WiFi, still cannot send.
2) I disable stock messaging notification and enable Handcent notification, still cannot send.
3) I install GO SMS and chompSMS, also face same problem.
3) I uninstall all sms apps (included GO SMS, chompSMS) and install back Handcent only, still cannot send.
4) I delete all sms (after backup to gmail) since i get this solution from other forum, still cannot send.
5) I restart my phone, still cannot send.
6) I off Wifi and open Data Connection, suddenly can send.
7) I off data connection again, still can send.
8) I on Wifi back with data off & on, still can send.
9) I suspect Data Connection, but curious why i off data connection and wifi again, still can send. Normal sms should be send out with signal good, but why i need to on and off to play around then only can send???
10) I install back GO SMS, chompSMS. Now all can send.

so right now do you still use GO SMS app? or stocking message? i wanna see where you stand right now from 2011 ...

Hello EVERYONE! Dunno if earlier replies had a solution but this worked for my Android zte! It was driving me nuts for weeks! Solution: delete ALL messages, (save locked messages as a screenshot or some other way) go into airplane mode and turn that on. (Wait about two minutes) Turn the phone OFF. Wait about five minutes. Turn the phone back on. No new messages and no more "message failed alert" when I started texting again. Hope that helps =)

I went to txt someone today, and for what ever reason, the message failed to send, and I received the "Message not sent" notification. I tried again, and the message was sent. Now every time I send, or receive a message that notification pops up. "Message not sent - Select to review the message and try again" and when I open the error message, it triggers another to appear. "Undelivered message - Unable to Deliver this message" even though all the txts have been confirmed to go through. This is driving me crazy, any one have any thoughts? It even gives me the message when I open an old txt that I have already read.

Well I have an Alcatel phone and had the same problem check if two messaging recent app are open, change to message limit per conversation to 75, take off any priority on messaging, or delete all treads worked for me. Hope I could help : )

I have a Note 5 on AT&T in California
Marshmellow 6.1

I have tried everything listed in this thread (listed out below for good measure), and nothing has worked for me. I am still getting "message not sent
  • Deleting All threads
  • Clear cache and data
  • Notification setting toggling
  • Airplane mode and back
  • Using a 3rd party messenger app (handcent) to delete all unsent
  • Factory reset of phone
At a loss for words, ATT is going to replace my phone, but we all know that sounds ridiculous, my phone is f***ing fine.

Anyone have a solution that worked for them on a Note running android?

Thanks,

-Kalc

I had the same problem. What I did was:
1. Delete all messages
2. Turn off phone, wait about 5 minutes, then turn on
3. After turn on, go to messages and check the message setting
4. In my case, it turned out that the message center number had been erased, so I just put my carrier's message center
5. Now it's working perfectly

I think it has something to do with the memory of the messages, it cannot be too much. IMHO.

I signed up just to say thanks!! I downloaded the Handcent SMS app. Went to delivery - undelivered - and just manually erased the messages that weren't sending. I uninstalled the app and was able to text again :)

I downloaded handcent but didn't see a setting fire undelivered messages?? Am I missing it? Where can I find it? This error message is driving me crazy!

Thanks!
