Just started using the S2 and I notice this problem.

I have paired the phone with my Bluetooth successfully and had used it a few times. The problem is when the phone is sleeping (i.e. screen locked), I tried pressing the button on my bluetooth but it won't wake up the phone. I have to first unlock the screen and then place calls.

This is very inconvenient when I was driving, and defeat the purpose of using the bluetooth.

I have been using the iPhone 4 before and it does not have this problem. When I press the button on the bluetooth, it wakes the phone up and activate voice command immediately, even when the screen is locked.

I have searched everywhere in the setting and can't find anything that allows me to do this.

Your help would be appreciated for this noob.

I am pairing it with a Platronics Voyager Pro.

The strange thing is I can wake up the phone and redial the most recently dialed number if I double press the headset, which is what it suppose to do. But I can't activate the voice control if I long press the headset once, which it what it is suppose to do, and did smoothly on my iPhone.

I am sure someone else must have experienced this problem too. If you have, please help.

I have the same problem. I can't wake the phone from my headset either. Has anybody found a way around it? It will wake when it is connected to my car or my home cordless phone but those both do all the work and send the call data to the phone. The headsets that require the phone to listen for what you want to do don't wake it.

I have a similar problem but not all of the time. Sometimes you have to press twice to get the phone to wake up. But did notice it doesn't do much unless you can bypass the lock screen, else you can't choose who to call for example. Anyway, the bluetooth is meant for answering, and so far no problem with that. So I can live with it.

Somehow I think the problem is mostly to do with the bluetooth than the phone. Using a motorola one.

Cheers

It seems to be part of the phone security. If you disable the screen lock then the phone will wake up and you can use the voice commands via the blue tooth.
(I did try with two different brands of headsets unsuccessfully before disabling the lock so it's not the headsets.)
I guess the phone goes into lockdown when the screen locks and since personal information is available over bluetooth it just locks it out and disables wake up.
While the quick fix is to turn it off I don't find that acceptable since it leaves the phone wide open (unlocked) all the time.
I'm still searching for a better solution.....

I am having the same issue that my BlueAnt Q2 will not wake up my phone with the screen lock. This works perfect on both my old blackberry's so it's extremely frustrating. What's the point of hands free driving if it can't handle something so fundamental as one button voice activation. Very poor solution to leave phone unlocked.. wow.
