Root Can't get Windows XP to install Nexus 5 MTP driver

I've followed numerous guides and downloaded various driver packages, but I can't get XP to install a driver for my Nexus 5 when it's set to MTP with USB debugging enabled.

I can't even succeed with this step using the Nexus Root Toolkit.

Any ideas, before I abandon this idea?

I'm pretty sure my XP is SP3, but I can't remember what version of Media Player it's on, so will check these after work.

Currently, the Nexus 5 set to MTP and USB debugging enabled shows in the Windows Device Manager as an MTP device with a yellow exclamation mark. What should I expect to see when the driver has successfully installed? Will is refer to it as an ADB interface?
