Blade Zmax Root?????

Yeah with 2 rear cameras. And snapdragon 435
And 8 mega front camera. Adreno 505. All better and upgraded from the zmax. And the best part 4080 mAh battery.

In other words no it not the same. It's better
Better? Think about this.
Zmax pro z981
Rolls gold accents
SnapDragon 617 processor clocked at 1.5ghz
Premium design
Better build quality
Locked Bootloader
Unrootable

Zmax blade z982
Nougat 7.1.1 (only upgrade)
Snap Dragon 435 clocked at 1.4 ghz. (downgrade)
Battery 4080 mah
Dual cameras but very low megapixel count.
Carrier branded to metropcs (Locked Bootloader)
Non rootable as well as the z981

Again ZTE recycles their phones across carriers and just eliminates or adds a feature or two to call it a different device.

Unless the name is completely different and the price is $299 more than the first then maybe it's a different ZTE device.
Meaning no recycled parts used in making the upgrade.

The cameras are way better and this device looks nothing like the old ones. It a new build. There cheap because zte is good a build cheaper devices. How do you think all these unlocked phones and stuff are on Amazon and stuff there not bad phone my buddy has one he paid $200 for and it blows the note phone out of the water. Stylus and everything.

Just bought the new site blade zmax, had the pro, this is very similar yes, but newer hardware, YES IT IS AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER SO, someone with skills can easily create a tarp image and flash it. Has newer dual cameras, once rooted custom kernels will blow that 1.4 GHz out of the water, nice phone. Adds notification to home button I like it.

It's literally the same as the Pro except slightly slimmer with a textured back and somehow not as good. I've had the Blade since the day before release and after using it for two weeks went back to the Pro as my daily driver. There's just something about it that it's not as good. I've done side by side camera tests and my Pro takes better pictures, the only thing the Blade does with the second rear camera is portrait mode. Even with the slightly larger battery, in everyday use situations I've found that the Pro actually lasts longer than the Blade. Messaging seems to be in issue with it as well. In my experience it's just not as good of a phone.

Someone get a root for the Blade Zmax Yet.
I am sitting here with both phones and yes sir you are right the blade is way better than the pro... The feel is even smoother... Anyone who say is the exact same phone just simply can't upgrade... If the zte blade had root... I could modify this phone so nasty it would make Samsung Galaxy and note look like tier 3 devices... I would donate whatever is needed to anyone who have the time to root this phone... Normally I would be the one who root. Some of y'all may know my work " Flyrom" i did alot of out the box roms...

"Simply can't upgrade"? Wow, your wallet must be stacked cause some of us would break our banks with this refresh $100 phone.

Watch out y'all, we got a baller, he has two $100 phone's, count them two!!! I wish I could manage a McDonald's just like you!!!

Hope one of you guys or gals can root this thing. A very popular phone now.

Pretty much everyone who was working on rooting the Z981 has abandoned the project. Just look at the main root request thread in the other forum, it is pretty much dead now and is dropping down more and more in the topic list. The Z981 has to be rooted first before the Z982 because they are very similar phones with the same kind of methods that ZTE used to make them extremely difficult or even impossible to get full root on. Even temp root is useless on them bcuz ZTE made sure that even that wouldn't get you anywhere as either it reboots almost instantly when you get it and DM Verity rolls backs any system level changes after reboot.

I have officially given up hope now and I am just going to live with what I've got until August '18 when the replacement to the Z982 is released bcuz the Blade could have been a much better phone but ZTE cut too many corners on this year's model. They should have went with at least the SD 625, 3GB of ram, and a down firing speaker that's 3X as loud as the current one. It would have also been nice if the rear facing cameras were the same as the ones on the Blade V8 Pro at 13+13MP or 16+16MP which would beat even that!

Oh well, I got both of my Blades from metropcs for free 2 weeks ago in store by porting one #. Its a great phone, if you run AdGuard you dont really need root anyway.

Did the exact same thing 4 weeks ago.
My wife has not complained once. Thank God..
She actually loves the phone for its fluidity and extra long lasting battery life.

Again ZTE was given instructions to lock out the standard user (us) from any administrative access.
I was one of the first to tell the community there will be No Root for the z981.
No one listen and accused me of being a jerk.
Little did they know ..They know now. 1 and 1/2 years later and no Pubic Root available for the zmax pro. Why is it hard to believe the inevitable?
So I just buy root friendly phones..eg LG...
And keep looking for free or under $30 dollar ZTE phones to keep for YouTube and gaming.

ZTE Blade Zmax (Root)
This method works on my ZTE blade Z. Please let me know if this works on to your device too.

This guide is technically for all ZTE phones. ZTE phones are quite friendly with developers (but still can’t hit the level of Google and HTC).

Checklist:
Unlock your phone. Go to “developer option” ---- “unlock OEM”
Download TWRP and ADB tool
Install ZTE driver on computer. Yes, you would need a computer for this
How to root:
Restart your phone to bootloader (“volume down” + “battery”)
Open up your adb tool and rename TWRP as “recovery”. Drag it into the ADB toolkit and input the following command: “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img”. When finished, type “fastboot reboot” then reboot into system
Transfer SuperSU into phone’s internal memory, find the suitable SuperSU version ( SuperSU V2.64 and SuperSU V2.79)
Switch off your phone. Then press “volume up + start” to enter recovery mode
Install SuperSU by sliding it right in
Reboot, and you are all set

Simple answer No.
Long answer.
No bootloader, fastboot nor flashing tool access for any zte device made after 2014 ike Odin for example.
Well the majority of zte phones. Maybe three years ago that method worked on all zte phones..not now or any going forward.
Even if twrp was made for the z982 ..again no way to flash it to the device....Locked Bootloader, no OEM signing keys and extra security features. Prevents your method of root..

Just purchased the Stylo 3 plus by LG and rooted in minutes using the root method mentioned. See LG gives Bootloader unlockable access and provides flashing software for public use..
This Stylo 3 plus is very underrated. Great build quality , good battery, gaming is very smooth and very customizable.
I overclocked and added init.d support on my Stylo 3 plus and it now out performs any non rooted zte phone hands down.
But my blade zmax will just sit shelved until YouTube time..
Maybe in 4 years the z982 will see root... like who still cares the z981 is rootable or not..time to move on..

The 615 that was in the old pro was a quad core Prosser and now we have a octo core with the 435 also the 435 scores better than the 615 and also it has a better GPU built in adreno 405 vs adreno 505. Get your facts straight. The blade z max is a way better phone.
