Keeping it short as possible because work.

Moto x Pure i bought in april 2016.
  • In two months, its factory charger died. Motorola refused to warranty service me, trying to insist i bought it in 2015...
  • Over a dozen usb cables destroyed in that first year
  • I've seen it completely wipe out the charge in a 13400mah external battery brick and still fail to fully charge
  • Most recently, it wont quick charge from anything anymore.
  • Said external battery now has one of its usb out ports ruined
In a lot of ways, i hate this phone, for symbolizing everything that is wrong with modern phones. Nevermind that standard rooting and then pokemon go refuses to work, and netflix refuses to install.

More recently, at least with resurrection remix ROM, the software is mostly behaving. Ajax i still cannot figure out, is why a fresh install of trillian causes it to hard lock constantly. I wish i was joking when i say it takes over an hour to sign in the first time because it keeps freezing while entering my username and password.

Bht, on to the hardware.
  1. Much Battery is still an unapologetic pig. How do i replace it? Can i get like a 10000mah replacement in there? Or sli a few together to actually make enough battery life?
  2. Everything I've seen so far to disassemble this phone requires getting rid of the backing and the glue that holds it together. But no guides address how to put it back together, or where to get this glue.
  3. While i have dome soldering gear, i have never replace a USB port on anything. How would i do that on this phone? Id like to do it right the first time as much as possible.
  4. When i first looked for replacement batteries for this phone, the Motorola model was $15 then. Now all i see are knockoff models selling for $50 or more. At that point, is there any relief in sight? Or am i basically hosed?
As much misery as this thing has brought me in large part be cause the battery is so goddamn awful, i just do not have $600+ to spare to buy an unlocked v20 and kit (including the extended battery I'd need for it). I'm trying to make due until i can do better. o_O

1. Yeah... the MXPE is a battery pig, reminds me of my old Rezound from the days of the first LTE devices, horrid battery life... There is no larger battery available (you might find some that say they are larger, but they are not really)
2. Yes, disassembly of this thing is not fun. Putting it back together is even worse, purchase a new back cover assembly (and possibly the mid-frame assembly as well) is the recommended solution
3. The USB port replacement is not recommended to be done by iFixIt since it requires micro-soldering... If your not an expert with a micro soldering gun and heat sinks, don't try.
4. Your hosed... no offense, but Lenovo's Moto doesn't offer parts anymore, even wholesale, except to "authorized" service centers that do work in house using approved Moto procedures. Buyer Beware as most of those batteries are takeouts or chinese knock-offs that are rated above their actual capacity.

Speaker assembly, front camera assembly, aux jack, button assemblies, SIM tray, screen and battery replacement are about the only ones a normal person can try on their own. Parts are becoming more and more scarce since Moto doesn't sell them to regular wholesalers anymore, many are knock-offs, but Fixez.com is usually pretty good... https://www.fixez.com/store/motorola/motorola-moto-x-pure-edition
