Help Not receiving all SMS messages on Note8

There really are no
Everything looks normal. I just went ahead and reset it.

I just had 3 more ppl ask me if I got their text. This is effecting my business
I think the point you're missing is that this problem is not a setting on your phone, it's something that has to be fixed at the carrier.

I have a suggestion to you all with this problem..
Hadron said it's not just a one single carrier issue..he is right..I'm with tmobile by the way..I had that same issue about two weeks ago..bear I mind I don't own a Note 8..it's just a S5..but I still had that same problem and didn't even know I was experiencing a problem for Jesus knows how long..

What I did was..freezed the sms app(it's a 3th party app I use)..I don't have an stock one..got rid of that as soon as I could..

Then cleared the app data and cache app(just for that app)..then uninstalled it..rebooted the phone and installed back again..

Only this time did work so perfect that even pictures finally came through the msm..I wasn't getting those(didn't even know that either).

Ok so for you all that stil have the stock msm also not uninstalled..I would suggest to clear the cache and data app just for the app..not the cache in general at the same moment you are freezing the 3th party msm..

Hope that works.

Well, the AT&T "fix" only lasted a day or so. Back to square one.
I've tried clearing data, and even replaced the SIM that I had been using since I got it with my Galaxy S5. Nothing. At least three texts in last few hours that I've missed (that I know of...o_O)
Really getting quite annoying, debating calling Samsung and convincing them to send me a replacement. Although I'm not convinced even that would help the issue..
Any luck for anyone else?

what level of support have you gotten to at your carrier?

i dont think getting a new phone is going to make a difference bro.

do you have an old phone to test? maybe for a day use another phone and see if it happens on the old phone. if it does, that should give way its not the note8...

Not great. Ha. I've said everything they've done to help.
I mean, I had zero issues with my previous phone (S7 edge) but no, I don't have a extra phone anymore.

I got ‘cha. Just would seem odd its *just* the phone.

That said, if you are out of your grace period with your carrier or samsung (whever you bought the device) your only recourse is a warranty replacement, which means you have to send in your phone and they repair/ship you one back once they receive.

I’d exhaust every option with your carrier first before trying to take this up with Samsung over some missing texts, especially when your data and all other features are working as normal...

SMS messaging has been around for over 20 years and has changed very little in terms of how it works. What has changed is how it's incorporated into other messaging protocols and apps. A simple text-only SMS message comes over your 3G/4G carrier connection so if new VOIP protocols are disabling those connections I can see where they interfere with you getting them, but again, this would be the problem of the carrier passing off the SMS message stream to a data-based connection and not doing it elegantly, or having your account misconfigured to not consider that option.

I'm just guessing here. By any chance do you know if the messages you are missing are coming from people using apps like WhatsApp or Facebook messenger?

It's possible that some do come from those kinds of apps. But I have noticed that most are from normal apps. (Stock Blackberry messenger, iMessage, Android Messages, etc)

Okay, fair enough. Two more questions. Do the missing messages eventually go through? Do the senders ever get an error message that message wasn't sent? Do any MMS (pictures or group messages) ever get dropped?

Sorry, that's three questions.

Missing messages never come through, Unfortunately.
Senders get no error message or any indication that it might not have been delivered.
And yes, this happens frequently to regular messages and group messages.

I just checked my text log from AT&T, and it seems like those missing texts do show up on the log. Making it all the more confusing.

i can tell you for sure the ones i know i missed didnt come from something like facebook messenger.

i went ahead and did a factory reset, and then made sure Messages had the full capacity to run in the background without being able to be put to sleep. I did this yesterday and havent had anyone tell me yet they sent me a message that i havent responded too. we will see .

Three calls to ATT with no luck. Has the reset resolved the issue?

I am on tmobile. I use textra. No issues with receiving messages.

Are you using an old sim or a new one from T-Mobile? Might be worth a shout to tmobile to have them re-provision your account or if you are using an old sim you might new a new one.

Are you not getting sms messages from certain people or certain carrier?

Hey guys, I know I was missing texts from group chats. I had to ask the people whose texts I was missing to turn off there imessage setting and then turn it back on and that fixed it. It is annoying but it worked. Unrelated to missing text issue, I also switched to textra, imo, for better keyboard and bitmoji integration.

I'm using my old SIM. It doesn't seem to matter which carrier or person it's coming from and doesn't matter if it's apple or android. I'm going try getting tmobile to fix the problem. Thanks for your input.

Hello, I too am new to this forum.
I have also been having this issue with a Note 8, from T-Mobile. Not an unlocked version. With the brand new SIM card I got with the new phone.
I have switched the to stock messaging app and have cleared all cache files, updated everything and this is still a problem. It mostly happens (that I know of) from group messages.
I had the same issue for a year with my Note 4 and T-Mobile was never able to figure out the cause or fix the problem. I upgraded to the Note 8 and its gotten worse.
I have gone from missing a text here and there, maybe a couple a week to now, huge chunks of group conversations. The people in the group's also have iPhones, Android phones, Samsung and nexus phones.
It's so frustrating, I'll be sitting next to my wife and she'll get messages in group chats we're both in, that I never get. She's on T-Mobile with a Note 4.
I have been on the phone with T-Mobile 3 times this week and so far they have been no help.
If anyone has had any luck with this issue, I'd love some help.
I should also point out that after reading what some of you said, I called T-Mobile back and asked them if I needed to change my sms address and the kid didn't seem to know what I was talking about.
He said he put in a complaint, which would escalate it to engineering and I should hear back in 48 to 72 hours. This is also not the first time I've heard this.
