Are you using the stock camera app or a different camera app.?
Have you tried a simple reboot of the device? That may help.
If that does not help, go into your settings, find the application manager, scroll down to your camera app, open it, open the storage option, clear the cache and data (ignore the warnings) and then try to open the camera again. Doing this will revert the camera settings to default, so you'll just have to tweak them as necessary
