Actually the iPhone 7 and 8 are both IP67.
The difference between 67 and 68 doesn't bother me much. Both are rated to survive immersion, neither really means 'designed for use underwater', and an extra 50cm depth isn't a deal maker or breaker for me (clearly, since my phone is also IP67).
My point was that the speaker may sound worse because of ip68.
Interestingly, one time I got sea water on my old 7edge and it prevented me from changing it via USB for more that a fortnight before I realised that swilling it in fresh/tap water makes it usable in 30 mins.
