Selecting between charge or tether on plugin

Didn't even try to do a search for another post related because of the oddness of the situation.

trying to figure out a way to be able to choose between charging my phone or tethering the phone for internet upon plugging usb cable into it.

We have parental controls on all our phones that doesn't allow access to settings with out a password that only my wife has. When the passwords applied you can then get access to settings and go into usb mode were you can turn tethering on, but obviously this would and is a real pain to have to drag your wife into the living room to type the password into the qustodio controls so you can can get access to settings and set it to tether your phones internet to your pc.

Yes I know you can set your phone up as a hotspot but that also requires access to settings.

Verizon now has an unlimited internet plan which allows you to tether your phone to use verizons network on your desktop which at the time is significantly faster then what we have out in the country not to mention we would have unlimited data on our phones and could cancel our current local dsl land line set up. but none of this is really feasible considering the fact that the phone automatically defaults back to charging mode as soon you unplug requiring reentering settings back to tether mode and with my phone requiring me to hunt my wife down and get her to put the password back in.

I've had phones in the past that would give you the option of tethering or charging every time you pluged in the usb cord.

hopefully there's something easy im not thinking of.

Also I know about the modem option some people can get through Verizon were it does all the internet for you house wireless but apparently it's not available in my area according to the particular Verizon agent I spoke to. .
Any ideas?
