Camera causing low battery auto shutdown?

This evening, as it had a few times in the past year, using my camera for stills caused my phone to suddenly power off with a low battery warning when I rebooted the phone. Initially when I rebooted the battery stated it had 54% life left. A couple more photos and it shut down again When I re-powered it said it was now at 15% and quickly dropped to 12%. I powered off till I was home and able to look up how to reduce the low battery auto shutdown level from 15% to 5% battery.

I'm puzzled as to what could trigger this as I wouldn't have thought picture taking with no flash is a power hog. It didn't happen in the first while that I had the Moto X (got the phone March, 2015) so could it have to do with the age of the battery?

PS just added a screenshot of top battery users since last charge.

THANKS.

My last Moto X photos were taken Dec 27 2017. I paid a small local shop to try to replace the non-replaceable failing battery for me and they completely fried the machine (worked for a little bit after I paid for the work.) Glad I had my photos backed up. Moved on to an Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom I've been quite happy with, especially the photos. I'll never again waste money trying to have a battery replaced that isn't officially replaceable, the connections are fragile, maybe the manufacturers do it that way on purpose so we buy new phones.

PS I'll also stick with phones with removable storage, not having it was a drawback of the Moto X.
