what "mixed reviews" are you concerned about?
Thanks for responding. I'm speaking about all of the mixed reviews online. For example, on the Samsung site in the link I sent, the pad received 2.9 of 5 stars. I understand that you can't please everyone, but I was just looking for a more favorable input. I'm an Amazon power user so I'm aware that I can return it. I am just trying to do my homework and not have to go through the return process if I choose from a better informed position. It seems that some folks are looking for comfortability and aesthetics, and others for actual protection (which is what I want).

i don't get caught up in reviews. most people who have good views don't necessarily go online to talk about it. it's only the cats who have issues or are very picky, etc who will take the time to "Review" a product...

example, i think the samsung convertible pad is 5 stars but i didn't take the time to write about it. again i have two of them, so clearly i think they are worth investing in.

everyone's needs are different, sure. what i may like you may not.

since i have two of the samsung convertible ones and have been using them since note 8 launch, perhaps you can ask me specifically what you are concerned about with the product. then i can give you a response tailored to just your concerns, and provide photos if need be.

I don't have issues and I'm not too picky. Personal views or reasons are getting me off topic. I really only wanted to know if anyone had any issues with the two specific products in the links that I listed, and if so, why.

I am a senior writer/contributor on another universal site (not about phones) so I know how to read between the lines.

Thanks for the input but I'm looking for someone who has experience with those two specific accessories, or something that they felt was BETTER.

qualcomm anker charger all-1.png
I know that I don't need a quick charger, but for convenience when in bed, it would be nice to have this.

I'm now very convinced these are a good thing. I now use Qulacomm car charges, wall chargers and portable battery. The latter also quick charges itself.

Thanks you. I just picked up my SGN8 and I'm stoked! I ended up getting the package deal that they had (quick flat charger, cigarette light charger, 2 cables, and a quick charger brick) for $59. I may get the Samsung charger, but for right now, I'm okay with this one. Thanks for posting the Anker stuff. I have bought from them before and I'm pleased. No issues at all.

Hisy bluetooth remote 1440773161000_1181497.jpg
Hisy bluetooth camera remote shutter release.

I've tried a couple of bluetooth camera remote triggers including my old ones. This is the best I have found. I had to order it direct from the US. There's an IOS one and now this Android/IOS version.

Reason I like it is unlike the others, this one seems to work with all camera apps I have. The old ones didn't though they did work with the stock camera. The other thing is range. My old ones had nothing like the range. New versions of bluetooth may have something to do with that.

Works with the HDR camera app when it helps A LOT. The others didn't.

It's also very small - which has disadvantages as it is easy to lose.

Also, seems all the newer ones use replaceable cell batteries. My oldest were rechargeable. Manufacturers claim a long battery life.

Specialised thing but if you need one, you need one.

Had my Note8 for two weeks now. Put the Otter defender box on. If I purchase a wireless charge will it still charge? Don't want to take the case off/on. Like the RavPower products; will their wireless charges work? Thanks.
I just put my Otter Defender box on my new SGN8 yesterday. It wireless-charges just fine with no issues at all. It also holds the glass screen saver without pushing it up on the edges.

Where do you use that @Simon_Gardner?

It's a phone clamp and goes on a tripod including small table-top ones. I tend to work with a tripod with my cameras anyway. This allows you to do it with phone.

Joby made some previous cheap ones but it was quite easy to knock the phone out. You had to be careful.

Obviously, it allows selfies with the back facing camera (with eg a bluetooth release). But mainly I use it for the same reason I use a tripod or other clamp with a camera. Gets rid of all camera shake. Allows low shutter speeds, low light without flash. If you need to do a sequence in exact register (eg for an HDR) it is essential.

I'll try and do some bird pictures soon to show what can be done.

Faff on for most people but I use these sorts things a lot.

Pic of the cheaper (pocketable) Joby phone clamp below.

The cure for shaky hands is Capta.

It's a brilliantly simple little thing - it was actually one of the first products that I backed on Kickstarter. It's been in production for awhile now, and it lasts forever. So you only need to buy one.

Do a search for it... I know Adorama was selling it, but you may find it elsewhere. I use mine all the time!

That's what I hoped you'd say!

Can you recommend some good inexpensive tripods?

I like taking pictures but my hands tend to be shaky with distance shots.
There's no such thing as a good inexpensive tripod. There's inexpensive and there's good but not both.

I think I must have 15-20. The two I use most are one I've had over 35 years and is unconventional and a pocket tripod I've had maybe 8. Latter made by US company RRS.

Manfrotto tripods are usually pretty bad and I personally can't get on with those Joby spidery ones everyone likes.

BTW I sent that stupid Peel case back for a refund. Thanks to that worthless, slippery booger, Jeanette now has a few small cracks on the edge of the screen. I called a local phone repair shop and got the price for a Note 8 screen replacement - $417 out the door. Cracks aren't that bad...

I'm receiving my note8 hopefully in September and I have been searching for good screen protectors and cases for it.
For the case I was thinking about either getting the spigen tough armor or the spigen rugged armor, so which is better? And if they're both not good what do you reccomened?
For the protector I've heard a lot about the Whitestone screen but it's not available here. I went to a store and they said gelatin screen protectors are better and protect from falls? So is this correct? And if not what do you reccomend, I'm having a hard time finding a good one....
