Help The Cursed Screen

Hello, community.

I am opening this thread as I am experiencing issues with the screen of my Samsung Note 5.

On November 17th, I opened this thread about the very first issue I had with the screen:
https://androidforums.com/threads/t-mobile-latest-update-ruined-my-phone.1217063/

As you can see at the end of the thread, I managed all by myself to find a fix that I thought it would be definitive.

But I was wrong; indeed, some days ago, T-Mobile released another software update.
After that update, once I turned on my phone, the same problem with my touch sensitivity and input-output response started occuring once again. And once again, I proceeded by applying the same method to fix it:

On the dial pad, I'd enter the following:

*#2663#

so that I could access this secret menu:

25276656_10215190941147666_1813972697_n.png

Here, I would tap on the Touch Key FW Update and wait for the process to be completed with a PASS confirmation message.

This apparently solved my problem once more, except that the following day, upon turning on my device, the screen was experiencing the same issues.

So then again, I tried and tried, but it just keeps randomly triggering the sensitivity problems.
I even tried with the other updates of this menu, but nothing seemed to have fixed it.

Can someone help me?

Have you tried booting into recovery and clearing the system cache? Often times with system updates old bits of programs lurk in the cache and cause problems.

Clear your cache and then try the fix above again and see if that doesn't take care of it for you.

Hello, thanks for answering.

Yes, with the first time I have experienced the screen issue, not knowing the nature nor cause of the problem, I even factory resetted and manually downloaded from the official Samsung site and installed a proper brand new firmware via odin3 (thinking it was a software update problem) but it didn't fix it until I actually accessed that special menu and manually updated the touch drivers.

So I guess that can't be that, right?
Or should I try again after this very latest T-Mobile update?

Turn off your phone.

Press and hold volume up + power + home at the same time until the Samsung logo displays, then release all three buttons. It should boot you into recovery mode. (if you see the android robot lying on it's back, just press volume up one more time)

Use the volume keys to scroll the list and power to select. You want "Wipe system cache". That should only take a few seconds and then reboot your phone. Make sure you don't select "wipe data" or that will factory reset your phone.

I did it, but it didn't really help..
any other tip?

UPDATE:

The problem still persists.

Whenever I manually update the touch drivers through the special menu (tapping on all of the three options), the fix is only temporary for an undetermined amount of time. Which means I have to repeat the operation multiple times during the dya, specifically every time my screen just goes nuts.

Any other solution?

Sigh, I can't understand why this has to happens every time the damn stupid T-Mobile releases an update..

I already tried last time to take off the tempered glass I use as a screen protection, but the only result was that I wasted it together with its €10 to purchase it.

I went through a lot of hell last time with factory resets, fresh firmware installing and more without success.. I guess I'll just have to sit and wait for a goddamned worthy update from that stupid american company I don't even make use of (since I am italian).

I think it has to be a particular app you have on your phone..I've had experienced the same thing on my phone..one thing I noticed is the battery was very very very hot when that happened..

I went ahead and got rid of the latest apps I was able to recall I installed..after that haven't had that issue..yes indeed I think it was the app to reverse a phone call to look up who is calling me..

Well in the process I ended up deleting something didn't need to delete too since I cleaned two or three..but that's ok..

Hope that helps..let us know.

UPDATE: I've been cleaning up my phones by unnecessary apps the past weekend, but nothing seems to have worked.

The problem is still the same.
Basically, the left side of the screen is buggy: on the very corner, the touch sensitivity is bugged/unstable, thus it slips in a very twisted way and sometimes it affects the "a" key on the keyboard, which I manage to weirdly fix as I already said by updating all the three option of the special samsung menu. But although the "a" key gets fixed, the left side of the screen still remains buggy.

I don't know what to do anymore, I suppose I'll just wait for another T-Mobile update and see if that causes some sort of fix.. also because these last problems I've been having since the latest update of theirs.

ohh man I'm so sorry to hear that!, question..are you sure you haven't dropped your phone some how??

I am very sure indeed.

I always have my phone with me, it's like an extension of my body lol (yeah, it's pretty sad if you think about it). I never let something happen to it, I am very maniacal towards it. All these troubles started after a T-Mobile update dated at the beginning of november. After a lot of chaos I managed to fix it through that menu, it just went back to work just fine, like always. Then now a couple of weeks ago another T-Mobile update kicked in, I let it install at night right next to my bed, and when I woke up the phone just started acting this weird.

I am pretty sure all of these problems come from T-Mobile.
There's nothing else I can address the issues to.

''I always have my phone with me, it's like an extension of my body lol (yeah, it's pretty sad if you think about it). I never let something happen to it, I am very maniacal towards it''...lol..

Dear brother..you just described my self to the teeth..incredible, I thought it was just me..I always say "it's part of my skin"..but I don't feel sad about that..I take pride on the feeling.

Why don't you dicapite T-Mobile and take your self to Cricket or something like that..I don't think you will regret it..I'm a happy camper every since I did that..now I'm enjoying the juices of a damn apotheosic like full VIP service with Cricket(it may sound like I'm doing advertising to them..lol)..even I'm not getting the full 8mgb LTE speed with them..but EVEN the half speed my phone is now getting is WAAAAAYYYYYYY faster than what ever had with T-Mobile in three years I was with them..not ONCE..

..and who knows maybe you'll be able to tether too and maybe some other services may come your way with the betting..

Just saying.

My Advise would be ,
If you can , Root the darned thing , install titainiumbackup or Rom-Toolbox from the playstore and FREEZE the Software Update apps .

can you reflash the older software via odin,
use your menu trick to get things going .
clear the cache again.
Gain root access on the device if you can
and freeze the Software updates app in the system.

this way you'll be stuck on firmware that you can get to work. and TMO cant push another update that breaks your device...

Not sure as I don't own one of these but if there is available firmware for flashing it via (odin, LGup,
DD or TWRP or whatever your phones OEM uses to flash firmware) there's usually a pre-rooted de odexed version somewhere or some other method to exploit the device for root privileges.

you may be in luck if you search hard and kinda ask around.

Hope this helps someone,

thats why I recommended ODIN,
but you can install firmware many other ways depending on the device too so I've edited my answer to reflect this but as this was about SAMSUNG NOTE 5 ODIN is THE BEST CHOICE
