A friend on Messenger sent me a .docx file to view, which I tried to download, but was redirected to Cdn.fbsbx.com on my browser (Opera), and my download did not start. Given that it looked like a Trojan horse had gotten into my system, I immediately closed everything down, and started a virus scan, on Malwarebytes. The scan picked up nothing, and, returning to the message thread, the download would still redirect me to that site. Another friend had sent me another .docx file, with the same result. I tried sending one from my computer, and was still redirected on my phone. I scanned all 3 .docx files on my computer: nothing wrong with them, and they opened fine there. Meanwhile, on my phone, I try uninstalling my browser, then opening the link, and am redirected to the same site (Cdn.fbsbx.com) on Chrome. I try re-installing messenger. I try scanning with another antivirus app (360 Security). Everything's telling me that my phone's fine, yet I can't access any text files on messenger. Any help I look up for this virus is for PCs. How do I fix this on Android?

Specs: Samsung Galaxy S8, Running Android 7.0

Thanks, that makes sense, except I could confirm that the same process would happen with another file with the same extension that I had sent to myself, and knew not to be spam. Plus, I had scanned the file, and opened it on another device, with no problems. It was a file I had requested, and everything seemed to be accounted for. I'll try opening using a different program on android, and definitely don't want to jump to conclusions, it's just that this is new, breaks my browser, and appears to correspond to the actions of a virus on pcs, so I just wanted to be careful. So far, I'm not seeing anything else malicious happening on my phone, but I also don't really know how to *look* in all the right places, if that makes sense. It's very different to how I would handle it on PC.

FYI "cdn.fbsbx.com" is a URL that belongs to Facebook. "CDN" meaning Content Delivery Network. So I don't think there's anything nasty there. It's what FB would be using to store and deliver content, including files that have been sent by FB messenger.

Quite frankly it sounds like failed downloads, and nothing malicious. Maybe FB was having server issues and the CDN couldn't start the download. You're not behind any corporate or academic firewalls, e.g. school WiFi, that might be blocking FB content are you?
