Accessories Zagg Screen Protector Issues

Anyone Else with galaxy note 8 with a Zagg glass curve screen protector have issues with screen sensitivity, especially in corners. Do you live with it?
The only issue that I have had with the Zagg is the unexplained crack on the left side about 2/3 of the way down. As posted in another thread, it ran across the screen over time. The good news is that Zagg has a lifetime replacement warranty for $9.99 (S&H). I never saw any issues with the corner sensitivity and I do like the glass. I'm using a Outterbox case. I you are having issues, contact Zagg and they will send you another one but they do ask that you send the current one back in most cases.

Like Duckster, I have had the unexplained crack starting on the left side of the screen. I went online for a warrantee replacement and the new Curve Elite, which is supposed to be more sensitive and have a gel adhesive instead of the simple sticky back, was a choice for only $5.99 S&H.

The only sensitivity issue that I have noticed is at the shift and A key on the keyboard and it isn't really bad. Just requires a second tap sometimes. I won't pick any bones about it, I have used a lot of different screen protectors and Zagg, although expensive, is by far the best I have used. I am an extreme creature of habit and when I find one I like I stick with it. I can't say that Zagg is the best there is, but for the customer support and the warrantee, I will stick with them.

Hey BRG, which case are you using? You are the 4th person I have heard of that has issues with the unexplained crack on the left side. Not sure if it's just such a tight fit that any "flex" of the phone, no matter how small, is cracking the screen protector. I'm finding it extremely difficult to find a good screen protector for the Otterbox case (as opposed to the design of the phone).

I have a few more to try, but I definitely want to get my hands on the Whitestone and give that a try if my cheaper options don't work. I have 2 more to try.

I may have to give up the Otterbox because most reviews say that the case and most screen protectors don't play well together.

Wow....Zagg is taking some heat on the reviews. It's been a while since I got mine, but the price has dropped from $49.99 to $23.48 at Amazon:

I have the Otterbox TPU clear case. It doesn't get anywhere near the edge of the Zagg, so I don't think its the case. I believe I want to change to a new case, but I use the wireless charger and I would like one that I don't have to remove to use the charger. If you run across anything that might match those criteria, let me know.

I read mixed reviews on the whitestone, let me know what you find out with it. I am looking forward to giving this Zagg Curve Elite a shot. I'll keep you posted.

On my Otterbox Defender (which oh by the way has dropped from $59.95 to $25), the Note 8 fits in there so tight that some of the other screen protectors that I have tried have pushed up creating a bubble in the middle, that reduces sensitivity. Without the case, they all seem to work fairly well. This is why I'm thinking about changing cases as well. Just about all of the original high priced Note 8 accessories have decreased in price and are getting fair to weak reviews here of late. I know some folks here haven't had many issues, but I'd like to hear from some of them again and which case that they are using.

I did try the note without the case and the screen protectors worked great. The problem then is that this phone is so slick and slippery in my big hands that it is hard to hold on to while texting or entertaining myself with a game.

With the wireless charger that I'm using now with the Otterbox Defender, I don't have to take the case off and it charges really fast and works well. Wouldn't you know...as I'm sending this link, it has dropped even another $10!

Like this guy, I have had the same problems. I have been through 3 curved glass screen protectors and NONE of them have fit properly. Its always an issue with the upper corners. Dust starts to collect, debris gets underneath, the screen becomes unwatchable. They are now shipping me 2 free protectors with free shipping, 1 curved and 1 HD non-curved. if that doesn't work, I may try to use that liquid screen protector stuff.

OK, Got home yesterday and the replacement Zagg Curve Elite was waiting in the mailbox. When I got settled down for the evening, I went to install it. It is far more difficult to install then the older Curve because of the gel adhesive across the entire back. I don't guess I should say difficult, maybe tedious is a better word. Anyway, it takes a bit more time to install than the old version. The adhesive covers the entire back and is a thick gel substance, not just a thin layer of adhesive. Thus far I am extremely impressed. The screen looks much, much sharper and more vivid. The spots on the corners where you sometimes had to tap twice to get it to recognize the tap seem to be gone. It just looks better. The reactivity to touch seems much better also. The Curve Elite is available as a replacement to the original Curve for just shipping. If you have a Zag Curve, I would recommend getting a warrantee replacement and upgrading to the Elite.

Thanks for sharing BRG. I couldn't help but notice that the Elite is still $49.99 from Zagg! I just received two more screen protectors that I will try. The issues are still with the Otterbox case. When I take the phone out of the case, it works fine. In the case, I get sensitivity issues. I am unable to find the Elite on Amazon.

For that price of the Zagg, I will wait and see how you like it in a few days. In the mean time, I did see this:

Hey Duck, I certainly didn't buy the Curve Elite. I did purchase the original curve when I got the phone and have replaced it several times. I got the "left hand crack" issue recently and when I went to replace it, the Curve Elite was an option and the shipping cost for the replacement was only $5.99. Thus far it has been a good one. The total adhesive gel coverage is the trick, I believe.

My wife had the Note 7 for a while (until forced to return it) and she had the same case/screen protector issue that you are describing. Her solution was to change cases.

Well, good luck in the search. If you find something incredible, let us know.

I just received this from Zagg after asking for a replacement (edited to protect names):

Hello XXXXX,

Thank you for contacting ZAGG! My name is XXXXX, and I appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

You had the same issues I had with shield. So I know how frustrating it is! However, we did fix that shield up and but and so far it was been amazing on my end!

I will get the shield sent out to you at no cost and no need to return and it should work perfectly now!

It should be shipping out today the 29th and takes about 3-7 business days

This is definitely some really good product support. I'm NOT happy with the original cost of the time, but they are improving and standing behind their product. I have to appreciate that!

Congrats Duck!!

I love my new one thus far. No corner issues and the screen just looks better. I guess because there isn't any air between the glass protector and the display glass. Take your time installing it, it can be a bit tedious.

Thanks BRG. My BIGGEST fear is how it will work with the OtterBox Defender case. I'm very much looking for something better. I have tried about 5 different screen protectors and so far, they have all eventually failed due to the case. I really need to find a nice, protective case (not cute or just attractive)! Until then, I'm hesitant to put the new Zagg on. Are you still using the Otterbox TPU clear case?

Just to report in, I have had the Curve Elite for over a week now and it is Fabulous!! Nuf Said.

Duck,

Yea I still have the Otterbox TPU Clear. I haven't found anything else that grabs me. I am a pocket carrier and the "Explosion" proof cases are a bit bulky. I don't like naked, I feel like it is a bit negligent to carry an all glass $1000 device around naked. I thought about the Samsung View Case, but I have had one before and I just don't care for the wallet style. Anyway, the Otterbox one still works well and looks OK, a little scratched, but OK. I'll find something some day.

Ok, so an update.....OLD phone case was a slick no grip kind. (Like it but have since stopped using it) Long story short phone fell off of none level shelf and Zagg glass screen protector did it's job. It broke to pieces but phone screen did not. Yeah!!
Zagg sent replacement screen protector and I installed per instructions, and I have switched to an Otterbox Defender case, No Slip!! Screen Protector fits with the case without any edge pop-ups.
However, I still experience some screen 'Lack of Reception' in the very upper right of screen and in the lower left bottom third of screen.
Another screen sensitivity issue has developed in Email. Selecting emails for deletion, at times I have to scroll UP the screen to a different part of the phone to be able to check the box, weird and annoying.
Still on the fence about the zagg, BUT, after the fall the phone screen was ok and as someone else mentioned in this thread...I to do not like naked expensive phones. Keep you posted.

Oh, and Love the Otterbox Defender, just wish Otter could somehow incorporate an 'In Case Stand'.

Just for grins, have you tried this again without the Otterbox Defender case for a while? I had issues only with the case on. Without it, just about every screen protector that I have tried has worked well. This leads me to believe that the case is still somehow pushing up on the sides and creating the desensitized areas on the screen. If you do remove the case to try it, please press down on the glass screen protector and rub it for a while to make sure that it is flat.

Tried it and the phone seemed to have no issues what so ever. So after spending the farm for the phone, then another 110.00 bucks on a case and screensaver that cause screen sensitivity issues..awesome!!

Yeppers. I'm still looking for a better case so that I can have a screen protector. As it is now, nothing works with this Otterbox Defender (for me at least) in terms of a screen protector. I had to make a choice for the time being; to protect the phone or to protect the screen. Right now I'm protecting the phone until I find a case that suites me. I'm just not interested in a "cute" case. I need something a bit more rugged. I like the Defender, but it just doesn't' seem to work well with any screen protector. If you find a case that works well, let me know.

Duckster have you tried a 'Punk Case'? I just found the case/company today going through my Instagram account and the add popped up. I'm doing some more investigating. www.punkcase.com. I'll keep you posted.

Wow! My head is still spinning! There are A LOT of choices there! I have never heard of them but I couldn't find where it was written if there are any compatibility issues with a glass screen other than using their own. The last one with the built in charger looked interesting! Thanks for sharing.

I did Youtube it and there are some pros and cons. Youtube "Punk Case Sucks" and you'll see some NSFW reviews. Not a lot of folks agreed with that review, but it did offer the "other side" of the story.

Hey guys. So I bought my note 8 in November and since then I gave gone through 5 Zagg screens. The first one fell, the second my daughter cracked. And no kidding, the last 3 replacements have cracked as I applied them. I'm super gentle and put it on as easily as I can just for them to crack. Does anyone else have this issue? Or what other screen protector do you use. Please help. Thank you

I haveney used a screen protector since they became redundant round about when GG3 was introduced, and haven't even had even minor scratches. I use a Samsung branded case with kick stand, more than enough.
