Can't tell if you are being facetious or not...

Meanwhile, I got me a new wireless access point, which gives me twice the throughput of the old one. Now all I have to do is figure out where and how to mount this bad boy... probably will still run a wire to my laptop, though.

What did you get? I've been having a lot of luck with the TP-Link EAP225.

Puppy?

PUPPY!!!

(Nothing is better than puppies.) :D :D :D

There's nothing in the world better than puppy breath.

This is Kara (CAR-uh) she's 9 weeks old, born Nov 8th. Pure bread Shiba Inu. We ended up .... having to rescue her from some people that bought her and discovered their 8 year old is allergic. (Friends of friends) Luckily we've been somewhat vocal about wanting a playmate for Maggie. It took like 12 or 13 seconds for her to steal my heart. She's my little bean.

As a matter of fact, that is what I have.

Dusted off and resurrected my firewall (a socket 939 AMD Opteron on a Tyan Tomcat dual-LAN gaming board from yesteryear...) and got it running on the new network. Good new is, it has little to no effect on my wired throughput. Bad news: for whatever reason it puts a dent into the performance of the TP-link. Also, it improves the performance of the old Netgear WPN824, which is understandable as the Netgear wouldn't be doing the firewall work anymore.

The Netgear is a 10/100 router, though, whereas everything else is gigabit, so it's still going onto the junk heap.

Don't know whether I should get new hardware for the firewall, though... the Opteron is pretty darn old, and running off a full-size ATX power supply... however, I really don't want to spend a couple hundred on a mini-ATX Celeron rig right now.

Are there any "true" Army/Navy Surplus stores left in the USA?

I'm looking for a Canadian Air Force, All Weather Coat, from the 1970s that feature that water girdle thingy. It snapped near your waste and let you walk through ridiculously deep snow or below your belly water for a few minutes without getting drenched. Army/Navy store on Washington Street in Downtown Boston staff had no idea what I was describing but a couple them looked older than me!

Good luck. I still have one remaining outlet and it's small with high prices. I've had better luck finding items on Craigslist the last few years. Ebay and Amazon sellers have some items listed as well.
