Note 9! What have you heard?!

Samsung seems to try to make their specs the reference point. Doesn't work. I call it a fiasco when your video viewing exceeds your screen. I'd rather have black bars.
Dump the Infinity Display Samsung. It's pretty but useless.

Personally, I feel specs are going too high. Because they're rendering three-and four-year old tehnology usless, this marketing is stupid.

Rooting a Samsung product isn't worth it, because you won't get "full" root. I've got my Nexus 6 for that, and i can tell you that 8.1.0 is really great. My apps on 8.1.0 look and work much better than on 7.0 with my S7 Edge. By the time the Note 9 comes out, my S7 Edge will have been paid off, so i"ll be looking into getting one. What i would like to see is a little more weight or solidness(is that a word?) in the 9. Maybe a 128gb model, although it's not a game changer because of the sd card slot. I believe that having more color options would attract more people's interest though.:p

I'm not looking forward to skinnier. I take a lot of notes (even though both note apps are still going backwards from Note 4 days) and it's already hard enough to write across it now. Lol, guess it doesn't matter though as there is no going back so I guess I'll just live with it. Gotta have a Note. Love the S pen too much to go anywhere else.

We've been running a Note9 Pre-Release Thread in the Note8 forum... but it's great to have a dedicated forum for it.

I think I'm more curious than excited, though: An S Pen with Bluetooth? What will we be able to do with the S Pen, away from the phone, that we can't do already with voice command?

One month to go! The Unpacked Event will be August 9th at 11 AM Eastern Time!

I only hope they allow for bixby to be turned off without the whole setup process, maybe even allow for remapping.

Anyone who has read my posts about Bixby knows that I'm one of Bixby's advocates. No, it may not be as good as other assistants at things external to the phone - but Bixby blows everything else away for phone-related functions. And complex commands are a piece of cake for Bixby: something that no other assistant can do.

Limited as it was, Bixby was sort of an exposition of what the future might hold... and the Note9 is supposed to be released with Bixby 2.0, which will be open-source and more capable at things out there.

I look forward to seeing what version 2.0 brings to the table!

It's great that you are in the pro bixby camp. I am not. I had the S8, now I have the S9+. I honestly gave bixby a shot. I find it completely useless. There isn't anything it does I find useful at all.

bixby home is nothing but a lame, pathetic, absolutely anemic version of Google now. There isn't a single piece of information it provides that Google Now doesn't already do, alot better. Of the whopping 20ish cards available, perhaps 2 are somewhat useful. I still have no idea what the purpose of giphy is, or why it's even on my homescreen. Why do I need to see a recap of pictures I just 2 minutes ago? That's just a few of the issues bixby home has.

I am not at all impressed with bixby's quick commands. I don't see a reason for them at all. I don't need my phone to set an alarm. Have no need for the blue light filter to be turned on or off. The Always on Display and the Do Not Disturb features are in the quick toggles. They can even be configured to come on at a specific time. In all honesty, bixby just seems like a solution to a problem that I just don't have.

I realize that the Samsung isn't going to do away with bixby. I just hope they allow for bixby to be deactivated without having to go through the lengthy set up process first. Maybe even allow people to remap it to whatever they want.

After all this being said, I do not use Google Assistant either, I am ok with a search taking an extra 4.5 seconds.

To answer Phases' question in the OP, no: it will not be the phone of the century. That's a tough call, since we're not a full 18 years into the century...
:p

It WILL be the phone of the year, though, and will remain the top device until this time next year. I think Samsung is keeping a few aces up its sleeve, and the Note10 will go all out. If you have a Note8 and can wait another year, I suggest you do so. If you have an older device and want to upgrade to the Note9, just make sure you keep enough funding in reserve to buy next year's Note as well.

That's great: I was happy to trade up from the Note 5 to get my microSD slot back. It's sort of humorous to read all the tech blogs about how surprising it is that the Note9 display doesn't have a notch. It's easy to tell who in the tech world owns the latest iPhone and has no real clue about the Note line - which has NEVER had a notch and NEVER been designed with a notch. They seem to think it's abnormal for a phone's display to NOT have a notch. News flash, guys: there are only a couple of Android devices with a notch: like the Essential phone, which pretty much doomed the entire company.

They complain that the Note9 looks too much like the Note8 - but they glowed about the Note8's design last year. No, there likely won't be a major design change every single year. Auto makers don't do that, either. They make incremental updates and periodic major redesigns. Of course the Note10 will be a shakeup, because it's the 10th Note. Well, not really... since there wasn't a Note 6...
