I really want to like this rom, there is seriously only one thing holding me back. That camera, if that was fixed it would be great. Just waiting on that update!

Camera permissions on system level is ****ed.

So recording videos works fine.

If you need a camera, then use anything that doesn't use the system api like facebook camera or snapchat camera.

It may or may not have flash or hdr tho

Every time I make a call it goes to 3g or h+, it shows volte in the icon before I make a call, but as soon as I make the call it switches to 3g or h+ anyone have any ideas? Alot of times when a call is incoming I will lose data and it switches to 3g and I will miss the call

This means volte is not presently active or is not functioning correctly.

No other nougat rom for the zmax has vokte so i doubt this one does unless dfuse went as far as to update and link the libraries needed.

This sucks, I went all way back to stock room just rooted and with Xposed cause I need lte 4g, anyone else have any ideas?
When I bought the phone I got the T-Mobile version, but I have since then switched to metropcs, I have used b33 modem, and b13 and b15 and all modems have worked on stock room and given me 4glte, when I switched to the nougat room I tried all modems and they all showed volte 4g but all switched to 3g or h+ when making a call

Contrary to popular belief, the cellular (microwave) towers are not all owned by their respective companies. A lot of times they are actually leased because another INC. or LLC owns them. Here is where problems arise, because those companies are allowed to set how their equipment works, which is why you can drive to one city and something like volte works fine and it won't in another city.
It has to do with the money point blank. The cost of paying for a feature on that tower or the cost of having their engineer drive out and change it.
So first rule that out. Get a phone (somehow) that you know has working volte and try it, if it does the same thing you know its your local towers equipment set up fault, if not then you know its a software problem.
Btw, volte is a gimmicky term used by someone that wants to patent the obvious. putting a voice packet over lte. What is the difference between prioritized QOS voip vs VOLTE? A very slightly different packet, that is it.
An anology for you, its like someone taking your luggage rearranging it so the heavy suitcase is in the middle and light ones on the outside and then forcing you to pay royalties because they patented that particular arrangement. You may say that is viciously capitalistic, but that is where the industry is at right now.

You obviously don't understand what I am saying. I have a T-Mobile version bought from t-mobile. I switched Carrier's to metropcs. I have run stock ROM, blisspop, cm12, cm13, and lineage, I have now tried the 7.1.2 dirty unicorn ROM hosted here. I have tested b13 b15 b33 modems on all ROMs, it didn't matter all the ROMs that could do volte like the stock 4.4.4 or the cm12 all worked volte worked does work. The cm13 lineage and 7.1.2 no volte, and the 7.1.2 shows it has volte but when I make a call it drops data first switches to 3g or H+. The same happens on cm13 or lineage.
Yes the 7.1.2 shows it has volte I have the icon, but when I make a call or a call comes in it trims to 3g or H+.
I am saying that the volte doesn't work on this ROM it might show volte but it isn't working.
Would be glad to post a log file if defuse or hroak or rety or someone wants it.
I went back to cm12 volte works on cm12 and I like it

On T-Mobile I don't believe the volts icon is active it's only a checkbox in settings under calls or something, and if checked it will make calls on 4g you can see ifa its working by making a call while using internet and getting 4g late and not switching to h+ or 3g.

The volte may be active in the Rom, but maybe the kernel doesn't support it might need a new kernel, or the modem needs to be updated, might need to change settings to stay on 4g also or they just don't have the correct updated files for your phone when building the Rom, so close someone should pick this up and get some logs and find out why it's not working or maybe just needs a new git sync with updated files might make it work. I know the tesla version used to have a working camera maybe find why that camera works or use titanium backup and save the camera and files, and use that kernel to make camera work, but this may brick your phone because I don't know if the tesla kernel works with dirty unicorn Rom.

I'm bringing this up to Oreo and I know the camera fix. I have to revert two commits I made. As far as volte , I don't use the max as my dd , so I don't have service on it.

Now I feel like a complete and utter dunder head. I've recently been missing my ZTE Zmax, I sold it because I needed money. And since I upgraded (Thought i did anyway) I didn't need it. Well, you sir brought something my brand new phone, might not even get. Bravo Bravo, I should get another ZMAX. This whole no root situation im in now is really killing me. :saddroid:

I was using Aokp 7.1.2 for a while and it is a pretty good rom, as Defuse mention It isn't 100%. It probably 90%. I'm currently using BlissRom right now. Both are good roms.

You won't likely find anymore active ROMs for the Zmax but I did try to redo a newer (with December & January patches) AOKP recently (with @dfuse06 's trees) and can't get the dang build to finish..

Got ya its fine my zte zmax just kicked the bucket and i got an lg stylo 3 now ty for the reply tho

Yeah I got a stylo 3 as well, quick phone. However I got the cricket one, so no root yet. Hopefully soon.
