Looking For A New Smartphone

Hello, community.

As title says, I'm looking to replace my Samsung Note 5 into something better.
My experience with that device, as some of you may alreayd know due to the number of threads I opened lately, wasn't and currently is still being very unpleasant.

So, I tried to search for candidates around the net and I came up with a couple of them.

The first one is the Samsung Galaxy Edge S8 Plus, which I got into by observing my father's Edge S7 which feels so fresh and cool to use the few times I had my hands on. But the thing I am scared of is that I came to purchase this Samsung Note 5 because I really liked to use for years the Note 3 and Note 4, so I thought the 5 would have been awesome but instead it turned out to be a complete disaster.

The other one is Google Pixel 2, which I read around the net to be the best android phone in 2018.
I have no experience about it but I know for sure that I am more used to the Marshmallow OS (Samsung's , generally). But since this model only costs €100 more than the Edge S8 Plus, if it's really worth I can see to get it.

Do you have any tips about these devices?

Since you're used to Samsung phones, the S8+ is going to be pretty seamless for you. Pure Android on the Pixel 2 might be a bit of a learning curve in the beginning.

Here's the big differences. The S8+ has the curved edge, the Pixel does not. The Pixel will get updated faster and get updates for a longer period than the S8+

All the rest is just details as far as I'm concerned. I always tell people to see if they can get a phone in their hands. The one that FEELS the best is the one to go with.

That's a different question. The S8+ (the name "Edge" is no longer used, as they are all curved edge now) is already a lot cheaper than it was. It may drop further with the S9's release, but I can't know for sure.
I will wait for next week for S9 to be announced and see how the prices will drop.
I googled for the prices of S9+ and it ranges around €1k, so I don't think I will be able to buy it..

But for a good device, I can arrange €600 on amazon.it .
