Assistant not compatible with your device

Google Assistant is not compatible with my device tuning android 6. My phone is ulefone u007 pro, running android 6. I've heard that people are getting it on android 5, and for me it is still incompatible! Do you think you know why this is, or any workarounds to this? PS I've tried the APK file and it says it isn't available, even if the device passed the compatibility test.

Ulefone is a China phone, that's only sold online and imported. And so it may not be 'approved' or compatible. Maybe worth you emailing Ulefone, and enquiring about this issue. Of course there is no Google Assistant in China, and so they may never have bothered getting their phones tested for it.

Maybe flashing a stock ROM can help? But where do I find one that is compatible with my device that is unchanged in any way?
I also tried it on my dads Alcatel Shine Lite, and it worked no problems.

"Stock ROM" generally means "the manufacturer's ROM for that phone". But assuming you mean an AOSP ROM (Android Open Source Project) it really depends on whether anyone has built one for that device. Whether that would solve it I don't know. The problem with budget Chinese devices is that it's less likely that such a thing exists. You can really only do web search and hope.

Did the phone come with the Play Store/other Google apps?
