I was hoping Nougat would help with the horrible battery life and sluggishness of my phone, but alas nothing has really changed.
Nothing is going to change the hardware... the CPU and display are battery hogs, but Nougat should reduce the battery usage when sleeping, especially over long idle periods (in excess of 1 hour with no motion), otherwise Nougat doesn't change much.

"Horrible" is subjective especially when talking about battery life, but this phone has never really been sluggish, so I would follow @DonB recommendation and perform a factory reset.

The ambient display doesn't work, and I have discovered that it shuts off when it's too cold and the battery is below 30% or so. Other than that, I really like this update!
Moto Display works fine... And the battery/cold issue seems to crop up over time as Lithium Ion batteries get older they don't handle the cold as well.

Might be time to try a cache wipe or even a factory reset... or the hardware is just ending it's life cycle.
