How to set custom notification sound

The mp3 file has to be in the notifications file in order for you to set it. Use a file manager tool or a PC to copy it over, then you should be able to select it as a tone.
That was it! I didn't even see the notifications folder before.

I moved the mp3 ringtone I wanted into that folder and now it shows as an option!
Who hoo.
Thanks

Have you tried finding a ringtone similar to the one you want on the application called zedge. it provides multiple ringtones and notification tones for you to choose from completely free
Since I already have a ringtone I want to use, I don't see the benefit of downloading another app to do what I already have. But thanks for the tip. I will keep it in mind for future devices.

Fortunately one of the geniuses here came up with the solution. All I had to do is copy the mp3 into the notifications folder and wha la, it showed as an option for notification.
