So verizon said...

My Verizon rep said if you haven't gotten the OTA you are SOL.

That is the understatement of the century. The ratio between stockers that got the update and leakers that got it is evidence enough. Whether they'll have a new patched update that won't check for 1.5 is unknown. But i doubt it. I say the leakers like me are stuck. If you're on v1 or v2, just download v3 and pretend it's the ota

As I have stated before, I do not think the leakers are going to get an OTA update because the software version numbers are the same. When looking for an update, the system checks the current installed version against the update. They ate the same, so no, you will probably not get it.

Also, as pointed out on this forum, the update install script checks the version number and if it is not 1.5, the install fails.

Unless they release a stand alone installer, then no update for you.

Stop calling care or tech or tweeting.......I just laid it out for you in black and white. If I am wrong, I will retract. As of this moment, I am 100% accurate.

Verizons twitter said the OTA will go out to everyone, including the leakers right? How long did they say this process would take, if they did at all?

Leakers don't deserve anything. Just sayin.

All of the testing that leakers "Unofficially" did for Verizon most likely enabled you guys to get the 2.1 OTA a bit quicker. Leakers reported all the bugs they were finding and Verizon kept fixing them with every version update of the leaks.

So Leakers should actually be thanked.

People still think verizon watches forums to get bug reports...wow

Am I wrong?

I'm not saying it's their Primary source of bug reports, but I don't see why someone on the proper team (Q&A ?) isn't Also a member on various phone forums keeping an ear to hot topics and/or major complaints.

Do you know for a Fact they don't do this?

Many companies do this to monitor their products, I don't see why verizon wouldn't.

I just dint like it when people call us guinea pigs like vzw leaked the os on purpose to get feedback. I can assure you they did not leak the os on purpose

Gotcha. But I didn't say Verizon leaked it on Purpose. (although I did toss that idea around way back when until I realized on my own how it was actually leaked)

Rather, I think that once it was leaked (by "that guy in China":p) verizon possibly kept an eye on the "results" of the leak.

Well, i did leak it, and i believe i have v2. Couldn't i send it into warranty and get a new one? Is v3 better (Are the apps able to access the internet)?
How are you going to warranty it? The warranty doesnt cover "user installed software that is not officially supported" ( and yes I know I know the leaks are basically the same as the ota, at least v3 is). Its not verizon's, htc's or googles fault you installed a leaked version of software that was still being tested by verizon. now maybe you can bust it up real good and claim it through insurance, but again you can always install v3 and be content, and hope they release a ota for leakers.
