Cell Standby Battery Drain

About six months ago, I cracked my Turbo screen. I'm careful with my phones, and this was the first screen I've ever cracked. I got a replacement Turbo, since I absolutely adored my original one and it seemed to be just as (if not more, in the case of the camera) capable and $700 cheaper than the newest phones on the market. This refurbished one hasn't been as great - running slower and not lasting as long.

For the past few months, my battery has been gobbled up by cell standby. This seems to be independent of my location. Over the past two days (because my phone only charged to about 80% in 8 hours last night - suggesting the battery isn't in great shape), cell standby has used 44% of the battery usage, with the screen being #2 at 15%. My time without signal has been 1%, the mobile radio has been active for 11h43m34s and the power usage is just under 2000 mAh. That power consumption seems extraordinarily high to me, considering that I have had 4-5 bars and strong 4G LTE coverage for almost the entire time, both at work and at home.

Going into airplane mode helps, but I can't leave it there since I have to be able to receive texts and phone calls. Putting my phone in battery saver mode adds perhaps 10% of the battery duration, and cell standby dominates consumption even more when I do that. My phone can no longer last for a full workday, which is unacceptable. I need a solution. I've read about a dozen posts from people with similar problems, but found no viable solutions.

Could there be a problem with the radio hardware? Is the battery usage analysis wrong? If I have to replace this bad boy, what should I go with? I was thoroughly unimpressed with my options 6 months ago.

Edit: I should add that I don't give a ____ about looks or style or screen size. I want power, speed, battery life, and a great camera. I'm a heavy cell phone user. Oh, and I despise Apple with the passionate fury of a thousand suns.

Edit #2: I just did a little test. With battery saver on, I let the phone sit here, at home, without touching with it, for about 40 minutes. I have 4 bars. The radio was active almost the entire time, and Cell Standby consumed about 80 mAh. It's drawing 120 mA, on average. Why?!

Actually I leave GPS permanently on. It only uses power when an app using fine location privileges is active. Some years back I experimented carefully with this and found no battery savings in turning it off though that may depend on what apps you have and which you allow to use location.

(I do however use "device only" mode, so keep network-based location off. That's lower power, but is used continuously. It means that some services don't work, but I've never cared about weather apps knowing my location, for example, so am not personally inconveniemced).

It's impossible to be sure at a distance, but I do fear that the battery may not be very good. I hope this isn't the case and something like a cache clear helps.
