If for whatever reason you side-loaded the file browser or didn't install it using conventional methods (an app store), then it might not show up. If it won't show up, and never prompted you for Superuser permissions/access, then it doesn't have Root access, and therefore cannot do root-permissions-required actions, such as editing the filename of that file in /system. With root permissions, it cannot perform administrator-level actions.

Try using another root-permissions capable file browser, as Dark One mentioned. My personal favorite is Total Commander. If the root-permissions-capable file browser prompts you for Superuser permissions, and you grant that request, you'll be able to do administrator-level actions, such as changing anything in /system.

Well, I downloaded Total Commander and it didn't ask me to grant any permissions either. I also downloaded root checker and it told me that my RAZR wasn't properly rooted. It must gave some kind or root because I have free hotspot capabilities. I guess I'll just redo my root sometime today. My new question is this, since Imust have some kind of "partial" root already, is doing it again going to screw anything up that I already have? ( like my hotspot) I really don't want to lose that. Will I need to uninstall anything I already have (superuser, sq editor lite, or vodoo root keeper) to be able to root my RAZR again? I did a search and found this ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDV_72mPt4k&feature=youtube_gdata_player ). Seems easy enough. Your thoughts?

I didn't realize you're using a razr and not an elite. I would suggest looking in the razr forum for this information. It could be totally different for your phone. Definitely don't use that app that I linked. And you're going to want hdpi boot animation.

It won't ask you right away, only for things that require root (the first you run into). If you navigate to File System Root -> Data, or File System Root -> System, you should be prompted by Superuser to grant Total Commander root privileges. Otherwise, I second Dark One's statement:

Hey,

I could be wrong, but I don't think this phone supports OGG files out of the box. If you convert that file to MP3 or WAV, it should work. There are many programs which will convert the file for you.

Things you need:
1. Root
2. Root Enabled File Manager
3. New Boot Animation - Should be MDPI resolution - 480 x 320dpi
4. New Boot Sound If you Want to Change It - MP3 about 10 - 15 seconds - Should be some tutorials online to help you make a 10 to 15 second mp3

*I always recommend a nandroid backup of a phone before messing with system files but since we don't yet have cwm recovery we can't really do that. If you decide to try this be careful that you don't delete or rename the wrong files and I take no responsibility if you do.

Boot Animation
1. Using your file manager browse to system > media
2. You will see a file called bootanimation.zip. Rename it to bootanimation.bak
3. Browse to your sdcard to the location of your new boot animation
4. Rename your new boot animation to bootanimation.zip if it isn't already
5. Copy the new boot animation to system > media
6. Reboot and Enjoy

If you ever want to change back to stock boot animation delete the bootanimation.zip and rename the bootanimation.bak back to .zip and your set to go

Boot Sound
1. Using your file manager browse to system > sounds > poweron
2. Rename the file PowerOn.mp3 to PowerOn.bak
*If you just want to disable the power on sound you can stop here.
3. Browse to the location of the mp3 you want as your new boot sound.
4. Rename it to PowerOn.mp3
5. Copy it to system > sounds > poweron
6. Reboot and enjoy

* Linux is case sensitive so the boot animation must be bootanimation.zip all lowercase and the power on sound must be PowerOn.mp3 with uppercase P and O

Here are a few places you can get boot animations. Some of these are flashable zip's meant to be flashed in recovery but just extract the zips and copy the boot animation from the system > media folders in the zip file
