Hi, i dropped my phone earlier and odly cacked the lcd i think and not the touch, the problem is i cannot get into my contacts or anything to back up the phone?, my sync is off i think pluis i need to get to my sms's as i need them for work, ive never used sidesync before so that doesnt work as it wont auto connect, and smartswitch wont access the phone as i cannot unlock it, are there any pc programs out there that can get around this problem!

cheers..

Actually thinking about it I think my contacts sync both to Samsung and Google is on, but looking in my google acc in a browser my contacts are just way out of date lots of old ones no new ones etc why is this and where do my syncs get stored , can I view them anywhere etc?

I don't want to have to fork out £300 for a new screen, for,the sake of it when I could just get another fine etc?

Going by your description it sounds like after you initially imported your contacts into your S7, you disabled the sync function so instead of having both your phone and your online Google account in sync, as time has gone by you've got two, separate collections of contacts with some in both (prior to that original import), some in just your phone, and some just in your Google account.

If syncing was disabled, and you didn't have any backup solution implemented, with your more current contacts and your texting messages stored solely on your phone your options are limited. This previous thread with the suggestion from @Hadron on using an OTG adapter might be something for you to look into:

I'll look at that thanks, I have had sync enabled here and there I just usually don't have it per inanely on to save battery and the fact I don't like all my emails going to my phone, but my google contacts seem very old compared to my phones, plus (and I'm hoping this will work again also) when I've synced my contacts they've all come back which is odd as, as I say my google contacts are way out of date, thinking about it tho I vaguely remember setting my phone to sync contacts only and I'm really hoping I did.
But if not is this something a Samsung shop can just plug my phone in and do a backup for me?

Cheers..

Bit of an update and maybe some info to help someone, right so my contacts were all messed up really it turns out a lot of them were google, some Samsung, and some on the phone, which is nine had synced properly what I did was go to Samsung find my phone and did a phone backup from the pic, this stored most of my numbers etc but I still lost some but a handy feature if you didn't know it existed, my phone wasn't worth repairing EVEN THO SAMSUNG IFFER FREE SCREEN REPLACEMENTS IF YOUR PHONE IS IN WARRANTY, but mine didn't qualify and I ended up getting a new s9, to fix the contacts issue I set my phone up as normal imported my old Samsung backup I'd just created etc synced google etc etc, google now offer an option to make all contacts google contacts via their new google contacts, which has at least synced all my contacts as google ones, ( although I'd like to know how to make them all Samsung contacts) problem mainly solved..
